She knows she isn’t supposed to, but it hadn’t stopped her from sneaking away from her watchful guardian. Or guardians, she probably should say. Not only Terran, who has taken her under his wings – both figurative and in the literal way – but also Ander, who she looked up to as an older brother. And neither of the black males had said anything about the matter.
Jinju – as they called her – honestly enjoyed watching the glittering gold that painted the points of her brother, it was just as beautiful as Terran’s wings. She liked those wings, enjoyed how they could wrap around her back and pull her in close. It made her feel safe and at home. Just as she felt at home in the forest.
They had told her it was common area and the land belonged to nobody, but that was a strange concept to the inky black filly. After all, wasn’t land like air? There for everyone to use? Nevertheless, her ruby eyes never stop moving, taking in everything around her with endless curiosity. Now she’s away from the watchful eyes that look over her, she can do whatever her heart desires.
Like darting after butterflies, trotting around on the foresty ground, evading trees and trunks, jumping over fallen trees. Her ears are pointed forward and the sunlight makes her ruby eyes shimmer. Like the little flames dance in her eyes. Jinju is unaware of how far she has strayed off, eyes only on the butterfly she follows. Of course, like any young girl, she’s giggling softly. ”Hey! Wait for me” she calls, speeding up a bit and circling a tree.
Another not so smart move to make. Her flank burns, forcing her to a halt as tears instantly cloud his eyes. Blood runs down her side, from a fresh cut caused by a sharp branch that she hadn’t seen until it was too late. The inky girl whinnies loudly, head dropped towards the ground in agony as she limps forward, stumbling on her legs as it hurt too much to use her right hind leg. ”Help me! Please” she cries, the tears flooding down her cheeks.
