keep your dreams in check
He wakes with a soft blanket of snow covering his back, slowly melting and dampening his thick winter coat, though Rouhi doesn't seem too bothered by it, especially since he had decided to rest outside, with no cover from the forest nearby.
However, his mild annoyance is directed elsewhere, more specifically toward the dying flora which is now covered by a thick sheet of snow, the cold air and lack of sunlight the most probable cause for the withered flora.
Winter has killed off most of the plants that grow here, only flowers like Aster, Pansies and Heather survive, able to thrive in the harsh conditions, usually blooming in December without any issues.
The grulla paint hoists himself onto his knees, observing the landscape. It seemed rather lonesome to the ignorant eye, but hidden away in small nooks, burrows or holes, hide small and quiet creatures, slowly working away despite the harsh cold, hiding in their warm homes and braving the winter snow to search for food. In the skies, birds circle, searching the white swards of snow until something moves.
Rouhi always found owls among the most impressive of birds, swooping down from the unknown without a sound, then striking anything that moves.
The stallion shivers slightly, the cold winter chill overcoming his body, slowly but efficiently rendering his muscles sore and limp, though once again he decides not to complain and instead rises to his feet, shaking his body vigorously to try and get rid of the snow. The male also extends his wings as far as he can, staring at them blankly. He never really knew why he still had his wings, he was too scared to fly with them and he usually got them caught up in branches or accidentally smacked people with them, at least they were a pretty addition.
The stallion parts a small section of snow with his nose, he finds withered pansies, limp on the frozen ground, void of all colour and life.
He touches them lightly and a small aura of light appears around them, slowly but surely they seem to regenerate, no longer frozen and lifeless.
He smiles as he watches the flowers bloom once again, bringing them back to life in full colour "Stay strong little ones" he whispers as he walks away, careful not to step on them.
Even though it is still winter, he hopes that they will survive for a while, at least until the days become longer and the snow starts to melt.
Now the male wanders around the meadow, looking for something to do or someone to talk to, hoping to make a new friend or two.
