    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

if there's love in this life; Astarielle & Crynn

for every tyrant, a tear for the vulnerable
in every lost soul, the bones of a miracle

Her sweet girl is so tall already, Kensa looks at Star with bittersweet pride. She affectionately grooms her eldest’s sloped back when she presses close. Soon the girlish prettiness would give way to soft feminine beauty but Kensa still saw the child she’d found in the den back when her heart had desperately craved motherhood. ”You look like you slept well.” She says with a soft laugh as her eyes flick to the slowly waking Crynn who seems to be struggling to greet the morning.  Her little boy doesn’t seem to take to the mornings like his mother and sisters do and she whickers to draw the bleary-eyed colt over so that she can nuzzle him into waking and nibble at the whorls of mane between his ears.

“What should we do with ourselves today, Crynn? Your choice.” The last to words she says playfully, gently, before tossing a golden eyed glance back at her nearly-grown daughter with a conspiratorial smile. “We could go down to the beach, maybe?” She suggests in case the boy is not awake enough to choose an adventure, waiting for Star to toss out her ideas as well. She hoped the children that came to her in the future would also enjoy lingering near their mother, playing with their siblings. Astarielle’s bond with Crynn always made their mother smile, the filly seemed to know just what her little brother needed without the two of them exchanging a single word. Hopefully her son would not be grumpy that his mother had wanted to shower him with affection first thing in the morning.
