    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Quand on n'a que l'amour - Byrne, any [birthing]
    #5

Just as Levi's muzzle touches the colt's crest, flames spring to life from the place where his mane should be. His broad face jerks back suddenly in surprise, but there is no anger in her eyes - quite the opposite.

He gives a quick, short laugh - pleased that his son has carried on his unusual mane and tail in his own way. "Ah! Look at you, a Tephra boy through and through." he encourages the wide-eyed boy before turning his mismatched gaze back on Amore.

"It's a good name." He states and he looks her over. It was his first time experiencing child-birth from such a close range, and he is amazed that she has the stamina to stand there with nothing buy joy written across her face after such an ordeal. When she moves he adjusts to bring his heavy frame alongside hers, a united front as they watch their son. He is painfully aware of all that is left unsaid between them, but he is content that for today they can exist in harmony. "I'm glad you let me stay..." he says in a low tone so only she can hear. Now may not be the time to open old wounds, but he knows they must at some point - but he would wait for her to tell him when.

Then Byrne is gathering himself, searching for his feet and Levi's attention returns to the colt. His skull lowers so that he can easily reach out should Byrne's first attempt to stand be less than successful - not that he is in any danger, with his two parents hovering over him.

so scream you, out from behind the bitter ache.
