    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    [open]  Butterfly Wings [Birthing]
    #1
Her labouring pains hit quickly, catching her by surprise - much like when a thunderstorm rolls in on a blue summers day. It took her about a minute to fully process what was happening, but she soon welcomed the surprise labour. It was a relief to her that the foal was finally on the way. It was now nearing the end of the birthing season and most mares already had their foals and as the days rolled by with nothing - with not even a little pinch to tell her that she should expect a little bundle soon - she had started to worry. But it seemed that now her worries were for nothing.

The dark mare tensed as her pains grew stronger by the minute, almost reminding her that it was happening and she was to have her baby very soon. It was too risky to have her foal out in open so she began her search for a secluded place to have her baby. After several minutes of hobbling along, she finally found the spot to give birth in. It was in a quiet part of the meadow, where the grass grew long and golden, perfect for hiding away the baby that was soon to come. The labour pains worsened and she lowered herself to ground. Flicking her eyes briefly over her swollen belly to check, but there was no foal yet.

The sun had climbed high into the azure sky when she finally welcomed her new baby into the world. The dark mare felt very calm and relaxed, the air around her seeming magical, like the meadow itself knew that something wonderful had happened. Blue-winged butterflies fluttered gracefully between gold stalks further heightening this peaceful mood. A smile broke across her face when she felt slight movement at the base of her flank.

Aune turned to look and, there, nestled against her warm flank. A fuzzy, tiny foal blinked up at her. A special-kind of smile tugged at her lips upon seeing the wondrous expression on it's face as it ogled at it's long legs which were spread out on the grass. A maternal instinct washed over her, growing stronger for every moment she looked upon her tiny baby, all small and new to the world.

Whickering, the colt struggled to stand on his long, gangly legs. Don't rush yourself, Little One. She cooed, humming with gentle laughter when he stumbled a little and his legs gave in, causing him to fall back down on the soft grass. He looked at her wondrously, obviously feeling the newborns instinct to be close to it's mother. He tried once again to stand but half-way up he started to wobble dangerously. He whickered as a cry for help but only got good-natured laughter in return. Eventually he managed to right himself and began making his first wobbly steps towards her. Well done. She praised. Wonderful! Your first steps. Only a few moments old and already you're such a strong colt. The small colt neighed victoriously as he and Aune nuzzled each other. The foal's attention was already snagged as he ogled at beautifully coloured butterflies floating around the clearing. Aune smiled at her little treasure, only moments old and she already loved her foal more than anything in the world.

The roan stallion has been away from the herd for some time as of lately, although he returned in time for his mares to birth. He was tracking down Chemdog to find his foal and retrieve Morigan, and he had to swap Sirana for Phaedrus' daughter. It has been an eventful year to say the least but he was excited to return to the herd and be with his mares, and see his new foals.

To his surprise as soon as he entered the herd lands he could smell a familiar scent, it was a birth. It was either Aune or Anahi, regardless his pace quickened as he followed the scent. He found himself to an open meadow that he often brought his foals to, to play together with. A smile curled on his lips as he entered the meadow a flock of blue butterflies fly away, such a beautiful sight to see at this time.

As his gaze scanned from the butterflies to Aune he could see a fuzzy foal attempting to take its first steps, it tried and fell back down to the ground. Although the fall did not deter the foal, no it got up and tried again. He smiled and stopped as he grew near the pair a colt he smiled lowering his head to bump muzzles with the foal. He lifted his head up to nuzzle Aune on her shoulder He is beautiful, well done. What will you name him? he did not know Aune for long before they created the foal, but he couldn't be more proud of the mare.

The golden grass parted and Aune was surprised when Archam entered the clearing where she had birthed her foal, it was especially a surprise to her since she hadn't seen him for what seemed like a very long time. She watched as he bumped noses with the little colt and happiness swelled inside her at the sight of father and son interacting for the very first time.

Aune was also surprised to see the big roan showing an interest in the foal. Her previous lead stallion had only shown interest towards the colts and fillies produced by his favourite mare. So seeing him regard the colt so affectionally came as a shock but also proved to her that Archam really was a good stallion.

The dark mare lifted her head to meet his eyes when she felt him nuzzle her shoulder and question her on the colts name.

Aune had names in mind for both a filly and a colt as soon as she discovered that she carried a life within her. Now she finally had the chance to name her first foal. Thank you. His name is Camber. She answered, nuzzling Archam back as she watched the foal wondrously gaze at the big stallion who probably seemed as big as a mountain to tiny Camber.

OOC: only just realised they met each other like last week and they already have a foal together xD

    Archam

He looked at the mare who appeared surprised from his affection. It's true, most stallions were only interested in colts and could care less for there mares but Archam enjoyed the company of each of his mares. Each one was special for a different reason, each one produced beautiful foals. A smile parted his lips when she announced his name, it was truly a beautiful name Camber he muttered to himself lowering his head to nuzzle the colt. He certainly had an odd coloring as most of his foals carried the tick mark trait, but none the less this one would prove to be worthy. He felt Aune gently nuzzle him he turned to gaze at her with a smile, she was a trooper of a mare carrying his foal, only knowing him for a short time.

Aune smiled fondly when she heard Archam compliment the foal's name. She had hoped that he liked it.

The dark mare also noticed him looking over the small colt, as if taking in his every detail. She then began to compare Archam's and Camber's coats as they were standing together and saw that Camber didn't have the markings that his father had, but she assumed that she had something to do with that. He has a little bit of both of us in him doesn't he?

OOC: It's okay Smile  I've been busy too
