    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Don't wait for the storm to pass. Learn to dance in the rain

Tlali emerges from the home Aziz had built for them with a yawn, he pauses outside the entrance of the home and inhales deeply, the air is filled with the scent of sweet flora mixed with a slight hint of salty air that must originate from the salty springs. A swift breeze also hints at the scent of moss that hangs around the trees and the dome structure he now calls home, the earthen smell of their house also overpowers his nose as he turns to face the house, he can also smell the smoke that  emerges from the chimney, it is hot and carries the smell of burnt rock.

The foal scans the area to see if his father was around, but it doesn't seem like he is, at least he had been getter better at not treating him horribly, he no longer tripped him up or abandoned him, it seemed like Tlali's hardships with keeping up with his father were all slowly fading, he knew it would have been worth it in the end, and now it was all slowly coming together.

Loess was still unfamiliar to him though which brought hardships of its own, in other places he lived he would map out the land using his echolocation, using landmarks or significantly large trees to mark where he was, this way he made sure he wouldn't get lost, but now he must do it all again, especially if he wants to satisfy his thirst.
The foal begins to march forward, bumping into things as he walked, though at this point he was almost used to it, he still needed to learn how to use his echolocation to his full advantage as he was bumping into things before he could even identify them, which was not helpful.
The foal finally manages to identify dips in the landscape, usually, this is where water would reside, though Tlali becomes confused, the air is mixed with the scent of sweet and salty water, at this point, he didn't even know where he was.

Tlali slowly edges closer to the water, he feels some steam and heat rush toward him, he must be at one of the springs he could smell earlier, though he did not know which one.
The small foal arches its neck to take a sip of the water, moving it in his mouth before spitting it out in a hurry "Definitely salty" he says aloud, his tongue hanging out of his muzzle in disgust.
