    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

running at the speed of light; Titus
    #2
    titus
one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?
The war had uprooted many things for him.

He reflected on the events that played out in the war what lead up to the aftermath of it all. The war came in bits in pieces. Most of the time it was a blur. Titus wasn’t so sure if he wanted to remember the war—to hold onto something so bloody and terrible left him feeling so empty now. His thoughts became flooded with emotions of guilt, frustration, and sadness.

A part of him felt that he could have prevented the war. He had been the Head of War in Loess before Vulgaris and Castile took up leadership, but his position had been stripped away and he was forgotten. Being forgotten left a darkness within him. Titus allowed it grow and consume all of him. He felt useless for a time, having no direction or purpose in his life made him felt empty.

But it was that empty feeling that made him search.

It was that driving force within him to find something.

    To have something.

    Anything.

It was that need for a purpose and to find himself that he found Tephra.

He found his new home—his forever home, he hopes.

It was a new beginning for him—for all of them in Tephra. But he had needed this new beginning more than ever. It wasn’t just him he needed to look after now, but Tephra and everyone that called this place home. Leliana had asked him to be the general of Tephra. Something he couldn’t imagine ever having again. At first, he had felt non-deserving of the position, yet he couldn’t imagine not taking the position. It felt too wrong to turn it away when it felt so right for him to be here and protect Tephra.

Titus now looks upon Tephra with a different perspective. It wasn’t the same when he first came here—it wouldn’t look the same either. The war changed that, but he doesn’t see any difference from when he first came here. Tephra was beautiful all the same as the magma hardened and Leliana worked her magic to heal the land. It motivates him to look towards the future, to find a peace within himself too after these past few years.

His nutmeg eyes scan the summer lands of Tephra. The summers are hot and humid here, but the shade of the tropical greenery and being on the coast of Beqanna keeps it rather cool. Titus has grown more accustomed to the humidity and heat these past few weeks. It would always be this way, or at least a little warmer in the colder seasons, but he didn’t mind a little more heat now.

Glancing across the horizon, a soft summer breeze blows. His nostrils wrinkle a little, a distant, yet familiar scent catches his attention. His eyes go wide for a moment at the realization of who it is (the wolf girl from memories ago), but quickly he searches around Tephra until he finds the familiar winged blue mare.

She instantly greets him with a smile. It is contagious so he cannot help but smile back at her when she greets him with a familiar grin. “Well, look what the wind blew in,” he greets with a sarcastic tone as his smile grows wider. “You sure you aren’t lost, stranger?” He asks with a tilt of his head as his eyes glisten with humor.
