    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    good at goodbyes

The shift was sudden, but not entirely as unexpected as it had been the first time the mottled mare had experienced it. Watching Kove a secret smile played upon her lips. A year old herself, it was amazing how much she had grown and in such a short amount of time. Beauty and elegance radiated from the filly, even when she wasnt trying - the complete opposite of her mother. Mosrael was brutish and athletic and it defied logic how she could birth something so completely feminine and dainty. Her amber eyes couldnt help but smile as they observed the lavender tufted filly as she explored the island's flora - her ears set with uncertainty. Everyday, Mosrael was greeted by the fear that, in time, Kove too would opt to depart from her side. There was so much more that Beqanna had to offer, and the youngter's curiosity was what inspired her.

Flinching ever so slightly, she clenched her teeth as a contraction tightened the whole of her abdomen. Labor had begun early that morning, long before the sun had risen from its slumber. Thus far the pain had lingered at the back of her mind, present but hardly worthy of her notice. As the shadows had grown longer, however, she could feel them reaching their peak. Mosrael knew her time would soon be upon her. Silently she strayed off the path, not wanting to alert her older daughter of her a sense. Kove would, undoubtedly, be an amazing older sister, but the mare knew that her daughter was tender hearted. Seeing her mother in pain would only serve to distress her, and that was the last thing Mosrael wished to inflict upon the child.

Enveloped by the thick fold of trees she followed the pull of her feet, instinct leading her to the perfect place to deliver. The largest tree on the island stretched high, offering a shade than spanned a great distance. Finding it was easy and Mosrael wearily lowered herself in a nook provided by it's two large protruding roots. Cooled by the shield of the leaves, she rode the waves of her pain fixated upon steadying her breathing. Time seemed to stand still and her mind drifted back to a year ago as she prepared to birth her twins. Deliriously she remembered Klaudius' reaction, the shock on his face mirroring her own. He had appeared almost cold as he stumbled upon her there on Tephra and she had been ready to abandon them with him, leaving behind every peice of him in the process. But she hadnt and those months spent as a family had permanently left their mark upon her. Knowing that he would not appear there beside her that time brought a new sort of pain - one that clawed at her heart and threatened to break it entirely. The last time she had called for him as she pushed the twins into the world, this time she bit her tongue and grunted as one final heave brought with it relief.

Inhaling sharply she pried open the eyes she hadnt realized she'd closed. Hot tears wet the curves of her face as sobs gently fell past her lips. It was overwhelming to her. So much had changed, some for the bad and others for the good. She could not say whether or not she would ever see Klaudius again. Either way, she was sworn to her father and the brotherhood. That was a loyalty she was not willing to lose again.

Determined, she righted herself and locked eyes upon the dark foal that lay prone in the grass. Another beautiful filly. Gasping, Mosrael drank in every detail as the frosted ebony foal unfurled her pair of slick wings. Similar and yet strikingly different from her sisters - with not a speck of lavender to be found upon her coat. How fitting.

"Kove," she called out breathlessly. "Come and meet your new baby sister." Nuzzling the childs midnight muzzle she whispered softly. "Eifa."

@[Kove] went ahead and used this as a birthing. Also, @[Brennen] @[Galilee] want to interact?
