    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Ain't No Rest for the Wicked [Any]

    Time was nothing to her.

Danyelle never found herself preoccupied with growing old and the worries of a physical declining body. Perhaps it was with a young mind and life so far she never thought of this. Sure she did see the ages of the old on those she knew growing up, particularly her parents. These things were just part of life, and likely could never be altered.

Then again, there was something funny about the way the world worked. She knew there was more than meets the eye, especially in a place like Beqanna. This was the way the world worked, the way her home always would be.

In life there was unexpected things, and one of them had been the changes of the world. Beqanna had shifted and turned into something new, but it was not until recently she had decided to finally accept these changes. Danyelle had escaped when the world she knew had changed. Her home, once ago in the Gates, had been swept away into the darkness and written in the history of Beqanna and became part of the legends.

She now finds herself back in this world, wondering wherever her hooves take her. Today it seems she has found herself in the darker part of Beqanna, though a neutral zone. The forest covers most of autumn sunshine and the rest of the world. It holds something darker and ominous—as if every corner some sort of monster will pop out and grab you. Then that will be the end of you.

But Danyelle is not frightened of such things. She is rather a courageous individual, and likely had to become one considering the predicament she found herself in once the Reckoning had come. The red and white tobiano had to learn to fend for herself when she could not find her parents or anyone else she knew after the chaos had erupted.

Her steps are soft against the forest floor, but she does not care to make herself quiet. She lets those around her to know she is present. However, she did not except to come face to face with someone so quickly at the turn of her path around a tree.

It would have been easy for anyone else to flee or yelp in fear at the beast that was plopped down on their rump, but she does not. She comes to a stop. Danyelle senses a familiarity in the way the beast holds itself, not the familiar carnivorous wolves she came across once and hunted her down later. There was a similar character in this wolf-like fellow.

A shapeshifter, she thinks with a smirk. It reminded her of her father, although his shifting had been rather uncontrollable. Sometimes it had been quite comical, but she had grown to adore her father’s mischief traits growing up.

Danyelle steps forward from behind the tree trunk, pulling herself into the open space of where the murky green wolf sits. “You make yourself look rather vicious that way,” she says with a smile the curves up to the right slightly into a grin. “Hopefully, the wolves don’t find out you are giving them a bad name!” Her smile grows wider now, the left side of it lifting up into a full grin.
