    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Consumed by her meandering thoughts, she hadn’t noticed the call from somewhere behind her.  Or nearly hadn’t noticed; not until the newcomer was nearly upon did she hear the settle of footfalls against the pine laden floor.  It wasn’t in time however, to keep her jolting a bit at the sound of a strange voice and her iron hued eyes turned curiously to meet with the approaching mare.  It’s a reaction that is quickly soothed by the mare’s kind demeanor.  She smiles, and Catcher politely returns the gestures with a warm smile of her own.

Both ears simultaneously switch forward when Rosalinde offers her name.  “It’s nice to meet you Rosa,” the painted girl replies with a gentle dip of her head.  “My name is Catcher.”  The young overo had turned to face the small-winged lady directly with her introduction, but just as quickly, she pivots about again to catch another glimpse of the stars above.    “Are you out this late to look at the stars too?”
