    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

and when I breathed - kratos, any

They come back as the war dies down. She picks Kratos and herself up, sailing back on a wave of lighting, Leaving behind the negotiations, the inevitable peace to come. They hadn’t been needed, really, but still, it felt good to let a storm of electric surge through her veins, their power mixed together and nearly unstoppable together. Though of course, they could be stopped. Everyone could. But she reveled in the power that they shared, reveled in the thought of what they could do together.

She has a memory of Vanquish in the afterlife, telling them to become something. It flashes in her head suddenly, and she wonders where it came from. She’d forgotten about that. But she looks to Kratos as they ride back into the Deserts, the electric breaking as they touch the deserts rocky earth. Had Vanqiush seen something between them. Was there something between them, and Rhy was just one step too slow to feel it too?

They would be beautiful, together. She turns her gold flecked eyes in his direction, looking at him in a curious way, like she can remember something that doesn’t quite make sense. A tug on her heart. A thought that others knew something she didn’t.

She knows Vanquish died. Knows he saved her, sent her back to Beqanna and back to the Deserts. She knows this is home. Why are her memories are Kratos so fragmented though? He’s never here, really. That’s why. She remembers working with him and Lagertha in space. She remembers the Amazonian Queen acting like they were friends, though she recalls almost no other interaction between herself and the gray warrior. She remembers Kratos at her side as well, remembers Vanquish’s words, but hardly remembers the stallion at all.

Maybe she’s just late to the party. Maybe everyone saw something between them, and they just hadn’t gotten there yet. “Kratos,” she says, not sure where she’s going with this, but the name oddly familiar on her tongue. She pauses for a moment too long, still looking at him, the memories in her head a strange jumble that didn’t quite fit together. “Are you sticking around, this time?” she finally asks, realizing she needs to fill the silence. After all, she’d been the one to speak first.
