    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Raxa vs. Jedi
    #1
She's always been considered the odd one out. Whether it was because of her coat color, or the fact that she was a mare, it never mattered to her. It was always thought that the brindled mare couldn't fight, given most at first believed she'd had the cushy life of a stallion protecting her as she grew up.

    If only they knew...

Raxa had seen a lot of things. She'd learned to fight in order to protect herself from predators and stallions alike. She wasn't a fan of being considered the property of another, especially the narcissistic ones. The only reason those ones ever came near her was to prove that they could have any mare they wanted, just because they were a stallion. Raxa was not going to let that happen.

She was going to prove that she did not need a stallion to watch over her. That she didn't need to be protected because she was a mare. She would prove that she was a mare that could fight. She didn't need the life of a herd mare to make her happy. She needed her independence, her freedom, and others to understand she wasn't some poor misunderstood mare that had been discriminated against her entire life.

And it looked like this stallion would be the first to learn that lesson.

These were the first mock battles of the army since the Amazons had come to ask about the treaty between the two kingdoms. Raxa had seen this stallion around the territory, had heard about him from a couple of the mares in the area. They did have good things to say about him, that he was loyal, a good warrior, and someone to be trusted. It didn't mean Raxa believed them though; she hardly believed anything anybody said. She had a right to that.

Raxa pawed at the ground, ears flat against her skull as she faced the over stallion a couple of feet away. She knew that these were only mock battles, but no matter the kind, she fought hard. She had to, to prove herself.

That's the only thing that mattered to her. It was the only way she could make anybody respect her. They didn't otherwise.

Walking toward the stallion, Raxa kept her head low, baring her teeth as she got closer. Then, quick as a flash, she raced forward the rest of the way, stopping short of the stallion and rearing high into the air. Although she was slightly shorter than the stallion, she wouldn't let that deter her. She struck out with her front legs, aiming her toughened hooves toward the stallion's neck as she started coming down.

Jedi gazed at Raxa standing across from her, he remembered when he and Ashara brought her to the Falls and she was so persistent to be apart of the Army Caste, and now he stands in front of her ready to mock battle. A small smile grew on his face excited to see what she had to offer, everyone could improve on certain tasks and he hoped that they could both leave learning a new attack, or defense.

The mare had her ears flat to the ground and she pawed at him like a bull out to kill. He glanced questioningly, this was only a mock battle, was she angry at him for some reason? She neared him barely smaller in height, they had a similar build offering a fair battle. Her ears remained pinned and her teeth bared, she truly must be angry at him for some reason, and this mock could prove to be a true battle. She flashed before him stopping a step or two away, quickly launching herself into the sky. He watched as she did knowing her first attack he backed up quickly and turned around so that his rear was facing her. He kicked out his back legs hopeful to hit her in the stomach while she was still in the air. Once his hind legs touched the ground he was quick to move out of the way, although the mare clipped him on the right side of his rump, causing utter discomfort. He spun back around to face the mare, his ears were lowered now truly ready to battle.

    15.2 hands

Raxa let out a strangled groan as Jedi's hind hooves came up and nailed her stomach. The mare managed to successfully strike the stallion's rump with her front hooves as she came down from the rear, and this pleased her. They'd established that even while this was a mock, Raxa was willing to go full out, to show her strength. Not to necessarily mortally wound the stallion, but fight to the point where drawing blood would be the least of the worries of either horse.

Would Jedi be willing to fight? Truly fight, like any wild horse wishing to show their strength would?

Doing her best to ignore the discomfort in her stomach, the brindled mare launched at the stallion's neck again, her teeth bared and aiming for the flesh covering the muscles and bones that lay beneath.

OOC: Hey, sorry. I'm still getting used to battles and such. Still new at this.

Hmm, how about starting with this post, we do two a piece, so that by the end, we'll both have a total of three? No word count limit. One attack and one counterattack allowed per post. No complete dodges.

His eyes scanned over the roan mare who seemed please that she landed the attack on him. He a small smile grew on his face, he was pleased with her attacks and had no reason to believe she couldn’t hold her own in a war. He was successful in kicking the mare in her stomach, although she was quick to recover. He was amazed that she was able to recover so fast, she maintained her breathing and did not have a need to gasp for air.

He was analyzing the mare too much, she had already returned with another attack, her teeth were bared and she was aiming for his shoulder, he quickly tuned his body to the right lifting his hind feet off the ground once more hopeful to hit the mare in the chest. As his feet left the ground he felt a sting on his shoulder and as he glanced back his white splotches were not growing stained with blood. The mare had a successful attack, she broke the skin causing him to bleed but nothing that a weeks’ time couldn’t heal.

The stallion was fast, Raxa had to give him credit for that. Of course, that wasn't something she would ever admit out loud; she was too proud to do so. Jedi's hind hooves found their mark on her chest, effectively knocking the wind from her lungs with the powerful blow.

The brindled mare coughed, trying to regain her breath, but for a moment, she was dazed. However, she had enough consciousness for one though to go through her head. While Jedi's legs were still off the ground, the mare's teeth went for them, knowing that if one of his hind legs got hurt, his speed would be reduced greatly. That would effectively give her an advantage, whether she still had trouble breathing or not.

Whether the attack hit or not, after striking out with her teeth, the mare moved away, coughing again a few times as she breathed in and out. The blow to her chest had definitely hurt, and she was still a bit dazed from it, finding concentration hard to reach since she really couldn't get in a big breath right now, with her chest incredibly sore. This was definitely not turning into the battle she'd expected.

Even with an aching chest and lungs impaired by the blow she'd received, the brindled mare charged back at the stallion. She aimed her teeth for his croup this time, trying to impair the use of his hind legs so she could try and prevent any more powerful blows from his legs that would hinder her ability to fight as they already had.

As Jedi was in the air the mare was quick to move forward baring aiming her teeth for his hind legs. His eyes grew wide with such a ballsy attack she made, he had no defense, the mare successfully bite his hind legs, his white socks were soon had blood stains mixed in. The mare moved quickly, coughing as she did. His attack must have knocked the wind out of her.

As he landed from his rear, he had little time to waste. His hind legs would grow painfully irritated as he continued to move, so if he was going to get a good attack with them it would be now or never. As she moved he lifted his hind legs and swiveled his left leg out to the left in hopes to hit the mares body. His force was full, and his right leg flinched in pain, the bite was mainly on the inside of the left leg but manage to remove a small spot on his right leg. His left leg landed and he took a moment to gather his thoughts, to allow his leg to recover.

When he glanced over to the left the mare was charging him, again with her teeth bared aiming for his hind quarters. He quickly bolted forward to avoid the attack, in which he was successful. Although the mare did get a mouthful of his tail hair.

This battle was definitely testing her limits. Along with that, it was taxing to her body. Raxa knew she had to end this soon, or step back and let the stallion make the next move, let him tire himself out.

Jedi's hind legs swung out and landed a blow to her hip, causing the mare to whinny in pain. That blow had been powerful, which surprised her. She thought she'd done some good damage to his hind legs, but clearly he still had some steam left.

She also grew angry when her attack on his hindquarters failed, the result being a mouthful of tail hair. Growing frustrated, the mare took a breath. Her chest was still hurting, and her other wounds, while not severe, still stung. If anything, it was the blow to her chest that hurt the most. She was growing tired, and fast.

Stepping back, Raxa's tail flicked back and forth, her eyes on the stallion, willing to let him make the next move. She kept her stance ready, in case Jedi decided to charge again.
