peel away the layers till you're nothing and no one

She is, frankly, feeling a little bored. 

The Covelings are busy these days, recruiting and capturing more horses to add to their numbers.  Being only a yearling, Kirke is not much use to them yet, and so her days are spent practicing her flying and, unfortunately, spending time with her mother.

Ah her mother.  Carys has become quite tiresome to her lately.  The winged mare is but a shadow of her former beauty, a pathetic, unkempt thing that spends most of her time hiding from the children of Khaos.  It’s a bit embarrassing to Kirke.  If only her mother was another one of Khaos’ children, then maybe she would be more favoured in her father’s eyes.  Maybe she would be as beloved as Potion.

But alas, Carys is only good for carrying on the family line and for providing entertainment for her Father’s siblings.

Today she’s actually avoiding her mother, trying to avoid the miserable mare as much as possible.  Carys is pregnant once again and while Kirke hopes for both Kirin’s sake, and for Khaos’ glory, that the child is gifted, she also hopes that it is ordinary.  She doesn’t need any more competition for Father’s love.  

So for the moment she’s out in the open (where her mother would never venture), practicing her flying over the Cove’s high cliffs.  She wants to be useful to Father and so she’s been practicing hard - dipping and rolling and flying as high as she possibly can.  As she works, she can see the empty body of Khaos far below.  What would he think of her, if he had not ascended?  Would he approve of her at all?
