    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Zohariel has never known disasters, or anything worse than nightmares. The storm that had altered Tephra had been relatively minor, in the grand scheme of things. She had been kept safe by her parents and older sister, had watched in wonder more than fear.

But this, this was different. Not only is she old enough to understand a little better but so much changed. The places that she was used to haunting were gone, the feeling of the wind tearing at her body and wind as she ran - torn between wishing for wings so that she could fly away and being so terrified that her family’s wings will get caught up in the tornado.

She hopes never to see another one of those monstrous things.

With everyone in Beqanna resigned to a small handful of lands, there’s noticeably more faces around the evening when this opal-and-star adorned mare walks around the Ruins. She has seen these stones before, walked near them, but she never thought about giving them a closer look. Zohariel does so now, the stars that follow her now gently float around her as she stands still. Her golden eyes roam the rough surface, these rocks that feel as though they are from another world (and they are - or at least another dimension - but these are not things she knows).

As the evening deepens, the glow from the stars that decorate her coat begin to reflect upon the surface. The uncertainty thrumming through her heart feels less obtrusive as night comes on, the deepening shadows soothing her nerves - the ones she has no real idea of what to do with anyway so she's glad of their absence, even if it is only temporary.
