    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[open quest]  if you go down in the woods today...

Panting, Llorona curls up in the mouth of the cave, back to the wall and watching from her ink-black shadowed corner as other beings (she couldn’t call anyone a horse with their costumes transforming them) skirt by the cave or enter it just like she. Her ankle still hurts, so for a while she tries to ignore Jack’s idea of singing just as she usually ignores the voices. A cricket chirps somewhere when everyone seems to have passed by, but then she slowly moves.

She behaves similarly to the amethyst cave-wall monsters, though Llorona is not a ball of irregular spikes (are they fused lightning?); she crawls on two hands and one foot, emerging from the shadows and moving somewhat irregularly across the cave. Most of the others are a good distraction, but she knows it will not last forever - her luck must have run out by now?

That thought has little time to settle before one of her voices warns her that she is being hunted. She hobbles and trips, and then she finds a use for her hands - she is strong, and able to walk upside down. She doesn’t look pretty this way, but walking on hands prevents one of the monsters from chopping off her head; with a whoosh it chops only the air between her knees. Two responds with a hum, but she ignores it.

She goes as fast as she can, the hands sensitive and bruised but it doesn’t matter. In the end, she rolls forward out of the cave, far too late but whole. Mostly, that is.

Who’s laughing? She wonders, but the dark does not provide any answers, so she rolls through the dust and falls into a crevice, thinking that obviously, she is failing this task, as she fails at so many other things.

Ooc note - sorry I’m so late!
Also the monsters are some sort of abstract, spiky balls of lightning-shaped crystals. A bit like a sea urchin.
