    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[open quest]  RESULTS: That is not dead which can eternal lie.
    #1
The monster does not know the first thing about love. He feels the echoes of it across their hearts when he devours them and that is perhaps as close as he will ever get, but he finds the taste of it sour. It rots across his tongue but their fear and agony melts like a fine steak between his teeth. The star smacks his lips noisily and settles in for sleep when a thought occurs to him – what if he birthed them back onto their plane of existence? He could come for them in the night and devour them again and again, on and on into infinity until he acquires a taste for their foul adorations and kindness.

He exhales and a fine mist of acidic air eases from his lungs as he heaves himself up onto those spidery claws. Like a centipede from Dali’s fever dreams, he skitters to the opening of the cave in a mass of writhing tentacles and talons clicking across stone. The Sunken One opens his many jaws and his tongues all roll out like a carpet welcoming them home. Maybe some of them haven’t survived their time in the pit of his belly among the other screaming souls but he gives them every chance he can.

Wet with his saliva, they roll from his throats and back into the crater. Perhaps this is love, for a monster: wanting to hurt them all for as long as he can until they break. He watches a moment longer with bloodshot eyes and blackened sclera before returning to the depths beneath the mountain.

He’s left them with parting gifts to remember their beautiful time together. That, and a few tooth-shaped scars.

Thorn has received a Bleeding Heart Curse from the monster. He now has a gaping hole in his chest which bleeds perpetually, but he will not die of it. For as long as he is cursed, he will feel the pain of everyone around him. In order to break this curse, he’ll have to make amends with the hearts he’s broken himself. If he would like to transfer the curse to someone else, all he has to do is break their heart.

Jarris has received the Crown of Love from the Forgotten One. He now bears a thorned crown whose owner feels a constant sense of lovesickness and so he will weep golden tears uncontrollably. He’ll have trouble seeing through his tears but he will be unnaturally beautiful for as long as he wears his crown. To alleviate this pain, he will have to find  new victim to bear the crown or beg his lover for forgiveness for his sins against her.

Sabra is the victim of Cupid’s Poor Aim, which has delivered a javelin straight through her heart. Until this curse is broken, she will never trust anyone who proclaims any kind of love for her. She will hear voices whispering hurtful things to her and those around her will hear these vague murmurs but never comprehend what they say. She’ll have to learn to trust again before Cupid returns for his weapon or find a new victim to bear the javelin.

Waverly is the recipient of the Wraith King’s Kiss. A lord of the undying has fallen in love with her and chosen to make Waverly his with a kiss. She will begin to rot and decay to match the Wraith King as her eyes glow blue-white and a strange graveyard mist gathers at her feet. To break this curse and regain her… “beauty”, she’ll have to find true love’s kiss to replace it. Or kiss someone else and curse them.

Dreamscar is now the Cenobite’s Sweetheart. The court of pain and despair has found him fit to join their ranks. For as long as they enjoy his company, he will become a tobiano in color whose white patches are skinless, revealing bleeding muscle tissue underneath. He will learn to love the pain that comes with this or he will have to torture a new victim to take on his curse.

Lastly, Torryn found a special place in the monster’s heart, as his screams and cries were the sweetest to his ears. The crooked star has made Torryn into a Bodach, a creature that feeds on rage and sorrow just as the monster himself does. Those who spend time around Torryn will find themselves experiencing bad luck and, with prolonged exposure, a bit of madness. He can now take on a more canine shape at will and his new body is sculpted from the shadows themselves. As a shadow, he can phase through solid objects, employ negative empathy, cloak himself a fear/sorrow aura, and his movements are now silent.

Everyone had at least one post that broke my heart and I’m sad I can’t make all of the participants little demons, but I hope you’ll have fun passing on or breaking your curses. Until next time!
