    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[private]  Are You Here To Protect Us?
    #1
At his young age, Kalil still had a lot of work to do when it came to understanding the finer points of politics. His sire had tried to explain it in simple detail, avoided words that the two-year-old might not understand at first. It had seemed rather easy in the beginning; two sides who couldn't agree on something met with either a compromise, or the threat of showing fangs and blood, the latter option not sounding too pleasing to Kalil's ears.

He wished to grow up and be a protector like his sire one day, but the thought of fighting didn't draw his attention. He didn't understand why there had to be fighting; after all, they were all horses, were they not? Why did they need to trouble themselves with threatening words and injuries on the battlefield to sate the appetites of those who only wished to fight instead of talking things out? Why couldn't they learn just as there were those practicing their defensive tactics or the use of a silver tongue?

There were times when Kalil wished he could even see those things coming, almost to predict the future, but his sire had quickly talked him out of it with something his own dam, Kalil's granddam, used to say.

"Patience is a virtue... seeing the future, may not always give you something to look at you like..."

That did little to calm Kalil's nervous thoughts though, especially now. His sire was away on some unexplained circumstances, having just disappeared one night, and Kalil worried for him. Even if he didn't give away all the details, he worried whenever his sire didn't give a clue as to where he was going. He worried for his dam too; Izora Lethia frequently worried for Aten while he was away as well.

He hoped for the sake of the entire family - his dam, his brother, his sisters - that Aten would return safely.

Now though, faced with this... if anything happened in Taiga while Aten was away, Kalil wanted to be able to tell his sire about it. But how to go about watching for those things without being caught...

Turul couldn't keep an eye on everything after all, and neither could Amica. Kalil wanted to help, but compared to them, he was much bigger and more likely to get caught by an adult who knew to be watching for eavesdroppers.

Was there a way he could do that? He'd heard stories of the fairies that lived on the mountain. Could he seek out their help for something, especially with two new horses lurking in Taiga and that insistent buzzing in his ears that stirred a dangerous feeling in his gut that warned him to be careful?

Amica had to go investigate for herself since she and Turul couldn't talk to each other. She said that Lilliana had been seen with them as well, so perhaps they were friendly, but what if that was a ruse?

What could Kalil do to try and help his family by watching for trouble from the shadows without being seen?

@[craft] @[anatomy] Kalil would like to request the Camouflage ability. Also, if one of you has the time to reply, Kalil would like to meet the new arrivals to settle his nerves since he still doesn't know if they're trouble or not.
