    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

That afternoon, somewhere high up above, the skies had decided to let loose the participation they bore upon the land. This kind of rain though was no mere drizzle, instead it was defined as pouring or raining cats and dogs, or other phrases that Auston has not yet learned. The little colt, so freshly new to this world as he stares around in disbelief. He knows enough that he supposes someone is supposed to be here, the one that had carried him around for the past months. The one that had pushed him out into this great, wide world. But, as those glacial eyes open wide and look to his surroundings, blinking through the storming rain, he sees no one. He is alone, utterly, entirely alone.

He wants to get out of the rain. He is so very cold. The stars upon his skin shiver and shake as the water makes its way through his coat and below, chilling him until it feels like his bones are shivering too.

Long, foal legs are placed out in front of him. The colt is not entirely sure what he is doing, he just knows that he needs to do it. He presses those little baby hooves into the ground and strains his body upwards. Weight shifts, it looks like he is going to do it!— and he comes down to the earth with a light bump and a squeal of surprise. Standing was a lot harder than you would think. If only this rain would stop, then maybe, just maybe he could do it.

His mind turns to the weather, wishing the rain would go away, just go away and let the sun shine, he wishes so hard, he trying to simply will it to happen. When, there is a break in the storm and the sun pushes through the clouds, and the rain all but stops but little drips off the trees nearby. Auston had just come into his sky manipulation ability. But whether or not he actually understands it and how it works is debatable. All he knows is the rain has stopped. He places his long, skinny legs beneath him, pushing once more, those tiny hooves slipping around in the mud a few times, but he is hardly the kind to give up on trying. Twice, three times, four, will he ever get it? That is until he comes to stand and he looks as proud as a king, with his head held high and that toilet brush tail wagging across his starry rump.

Even if he is nothing more than an abandoned child.
