    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Anninux

    Anninux was somewhat calm as she neared the resort, breathing smoothly as she composed herself, following the directions she had been told to use only a few days ago. Her frame was now healed and upright, no longer suffering from starvation and sickness. The sooty female had decided to walk alongside the beach, she had made the choice thinking it would possibly be the safest and quickest to travel along, unless she was to be hit by bad weather, although Anninux knew she was close now and didn't particularly need to worry about a spot of rain, the crisp salty air filling her lungs and staying for a moment as she breathed in the change of climate. The mare had picked a good day to travel on, the sun was high but filtered by moving clouds as she walked, the tiny white warm speckles of sand crushing beneath her ink-like hooves as they melted away and reformed in waves, now she was becoming tense, all she could hear was the lapping of waves alongside the rims of the beach, growing stronger and louder as she began to come close, a new excitement filling inside as she halted, scouting the place for any horses that may be around, but she did not see any for the moment. For a while, Anninux kept walking until she found a small clearing, it seemed close enough that she should come across someone at this point, she was unsure of if to call for Kagerus or wait, calling out into the open could attract attention she is not ready for; although what could possibly harm her out here, it didn't seem as if any demons had been lurking around here, or so she hoped.

    Finally she made the decision, a soft whimper of a call escaping her lungs as she announced her location, the waves close to her padding the soft tone of her voice as it floated above, now she was truly here and in the moment, she knew why she was here and focused herself, readying her mind for what could possibly await out in the open.

    { and in my dreams i've kissed your lips a thousand times }

    The leap will be a big one.

    Anninux sets out for the Resort a day prior, the both of us figuring that by doing so, we may arrive at the same time. I offered to teleport her with me, but the Shagya Arabian seemed wary of such strange magics; this I cannot begrudge her, as she is knew in this realm and without a personal understanding of even simple magics. Hell, even I find teleportation to be strange; the transportation of all your particles from one place to another really doesn't make any sense.

    Luckily, I don't have to think that hard about it to make it actually happen; and, after some trial runs of dream-flying with Solace over top of Beqanna to build a cognitive map of the new shifting of the lands (though this was only a precaution as we'd done so at the very start of this hellshift), I go to sleep and dream of the island. At least, one of the islands - and not the icy one.

    It is between morning and afternoon when I awaken, ankle-deep in the water of Island Resort. It had been a risk to dream myself into the surf like this, but I hadn't wanted to wake up in the exact center of the land and cause a fuss with whoever is stationed here. Ironically, I hear my name called quietly from further within the land, and I sigh huffily. Then, tucking my chin and smiling a secret smile, I push just past the scent line and come across Anninux as she stands in a clearing, looking a little disheveled but also prepared for anything.

    Hopefully, she needn't be.

    "Come back this way Anni," I say softly after exchanging a warm breath with the beautiful black creature. Gesturing, I lead her back to where I had previously been standing, and give the mare a smile before explaining myself. "It's my fault for not telling you sooner, but I'm telling you now so all is well: when we visit other kingdoms, we typically wait at the border to be escorted in by the residents. While this used to be much stricter, it is still a courtesy we abide by. Furthermore, if those who are stationed in a land have ill will, you don't want to put yourself in the middle of their territory." I mentally grimace at the memory of me doing exactly that, in an attempt to convince a Sylvan member to usurp, and nearly getting murdered for my arrogance. "However, you may skirt around lands to get to others, and if you know a land to be a certain ally, you may pass straight through it if permission was given to do so."

    Giving her a last encouraging smile, I look now to the beautiful forest of the Resort and await the arrival of... someone.

    BUT HOW COULD YOU KNOW THE SWEETEST SUFFERING
    OF MOVING ON
    Life is ever blossoming here on the island. Where there had initially been silence there is now boisterous conversation and laughter. There are still many that are stricken with sickness, but their symptoms are addressed even if only temporarily. Much to Tiphon’s dismay, he cannot entirely excise the disease from their bodies – not even his – but at least he can offer some reprieve.

    What bloody nose and fatigue that developed overnight has since subsided with the intricacies of his own magic threading into the sinew and bloodstream. Another day sparing himself from the suffering so that he may continue preserving this island and those who have sought shelter on its shores. They – the sources of the voices dancing with the breeze – are his purpose, it seems. Underneath the veil of uncertainty, Tiphon deciphers personal goals and objectives to ensure happiness and safety. Whether this is the sole reason he returned, or not, he still has yet to figure.

    The soft whimper of a voice somehow pulls Tiphon from his train of thoughts, halting his aimless wandering of the shoreline. Its softness is nearly lost in the steady metronome of the waves lapping at the sandy beach, but it’s followed by a much more dominating voice that bears an air of authority and direction. Lifting his molten eyes from the ground, he sees the two women standing on the beach with the water kissing their pasterns. With an amiable grin stretching across the length of his lips, he closes the distance among them all while drinking in their foreign scents for the very first time.

    ”Hello!” He begins rather airily before quieting his tone slightly, more formally addressing them. ”I’m Tiphon, and welcome to the Island Resort. If you have no ill will, is there anything I can help you with today?” While he doesn’t declare himself as anything of rank or importance to them (because he doesn’t even yet know what direction the island will take once entirely settled), his hospitality provides some means of an answer for them.

    Anninux

    The sooty female was surprisingly calm as the stallion arrived directly in front of them, her ears perked toward him as he greeted both of them, she was quick to return the pleasant greeting with her own, her soft lips parching to speak quietly "Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you" she spoke softly and steadily "I am Anninux and I have come with Kagerus" she pauses for a moment to take in the heavy salty air "We come from Hyaline, and of course mean no ill-will" she adds with a smile as she steps back slightly and to the side of Kagerus, allowing her to take the lead from there.

    The dark mare stands silently now and waits for Kagerus to speak, watching the stallion and the surroundings he was standing in, they stood in what seemed like paradise, surrounded by the calm hush of trees and small waves of sand building up into waves as the breeze gently batters it around, she is intrigued by this new place and is keen on learning more about it.

    { and in my dreams i've kissed your lips a thousand times }

    With nary a qualm offered by the lovely Anninux (who will assuredly get the hang of this place sooner than later, given her intelligence and patience), we settle in to wait for another's arrival. Pastern-deep in warm, tropical water, I think briefly upon how drastically my life has changed since the day of my birth, and the calm, nearly lull-ish years succeeding it. Times were simper than, but I am blessed to have come into many loved ones, and to still have many from that time, too; I say a quiet prayer for my father who, though immortal, became so during the final chapter of his life, and who will always be somewhat more frail than the rest of us.

    As the final thoughts of prayer ascend to the heavens, another angel from my past materializes - but literally, this time. While I am not immediately able to place the familiarity of the approaching stallion, I offer him a small, reserved smile, and perk my ears to listen to that which he has to say. The scent of him drives me nearly mad with almost-knowing; but after the male's initial exuberance, my curiosity becomes sated by way of his introduction.

    Tiphon.

    Without pause, the smile upon my lips grows to its genuine size, nearly flashing teeth for the joy that I feel upon seeing this creature. Now, the joy comes not from any previous relationship with this creature, but instead from the knowledge that he, too, is from the time before the Reckoning. Not many remain, and what few do I find to be largely upright and lovely people - by the kindness in the angel's eyes and the hoarse warmth of his voice, I figure that he will be among their number, too, by the end of this.

    Remembering myself, I tuck away my jovial expression in favour of listening to my apprentice diplomat introduce us. I smirk a little when she incorrectly identifies our place of origin, noting to reiterate that later on; but on the whole, she does well, even squeezing in something of a joke before stepping back to allow me some room to speak. Reaching over, I press a nuzzle of pride to the Shagya Arabian's neck, remembering my own days as a novice back in the Jungle.

    Turning now to face he who represents an inextricable mix of the past and the present, I gather my thoughts and part my lips to speak. As I do, I notice the perfection of the angel's porcelain skin, and wonder privately whether he shall notice the gory scar which splits my face from right ear to left nostril; but, although I do not have wings such as he, I do have a crown of antlers which speak of my own authority and respectability.

    "Tiphon," I begin. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, after all this time. My name is Kagerus; when I was only a very young girl, I believe you were involved quite heavily with the Dale. Don't quote me on that though; I was only a girl then, after all, and only the beginnings of what I am now." I offer another smile, and a dip of my head in reverence of what we both once were. After a suitable pause, I regain my posture and continue.

    "As Anninux stated, we hail from the East, called now the Sanctuary. We come in the hopes of discovering who leads this land, how they are aligned to the others in their quadrant, and whether we may establish a bond of peace between our nations. Furthermore, we come to bestow the information of our quadrant upon you, should that be something you are interested in - I assume it is, but it is quite a long story, so perhaps you will share yours first in light of the fact that I've now spoken for many minutes straight."

    Smiling again, I settle my lips in a pleasant line, the nutmeg of my eyes sparkling gently as I await Tiphon's response.

    So I did some stalking, and Tiphon and Kag were posting at the same time circa 05/2016 and onward, so I writ in that she knows of him, though I don't believe they ever officially met.

    BUT HOW COULD YOU KNOW THE SWEETEST SUFFERING
    OF MOVING ON
    ”Wonderful news!” He exclaims with a voice as warm as the sun, his eyes brightened by their reassurance. ”Then welcome, welcome.” The Island has been a place of refuge, of family and rest. As poor of a choice as it likely is, Tiphon hasn’t quite reached out to other lands because he hasn’t quite wanted to leave the tropical shores. It would be ideal to extend his hand to the mainland of Beqanna, to make them aware that he can balm and suppress their pain, but his comfort level hasn’t quite reached that level yet.

    So, fortunately, foreign envoys are coming to him and his island.

    Anninux, she introduces, offers an amiable beginning to the conversation before taking a small step aside. Tiphon watches curiously, his gaze sweeping back and forth until Kagerus offers her name and explanation. What she adds, however, throws him off guard. His heart jumps into his throat, afraid that his memory is once again to fail him. It shattered a piece of Wallace when he admitted that he knew nothing of her, nothing of the relationship (or lack thereof) they shared. Tiphon’s expression, ever hospitable, doesn’t waver even as his mind reels anxiously as though trying to conjure a specific memory, but Kagerus only mentions the Dale. Yes, Wallace had mentioned he was a figure of the old kingdom once. With a smile, he nods his head in agreement. ”Yes, yes I was. That was a very long time ago.” That much, he is confident to say. How long, precisely, however, is beyond his memory’s reach since the void.

    A flickering idea to visit the mountain comes and goes, but it leads a trail of interest in his wake.
    Maybe they could revive his history, his life, his memories. Maybe they can bring them all back just as they brought back the island.

    Amid his musings, Tiphon still interestedly listens to Kagerus. A frown creases his handsome face when he considers the answers rattling in the confines of his mind. Nothing has been strongly established here, not yet. He is deterred to admit this in fear of a mutiny or invasion, but he still engages and still gives them resolve. ”I’ve been taking care of the island, so I suppose you can consider me as the leader. I’m not exactly ambitious or power hungry.” There have been some days that he has considering stepping down for someone more goal-oriented and dominant, as he is just a healer and a protector. But he says nothing of this to anyone, not even to those inhabiting the island. ”I’ve been simply focusing on providing refuge and trying to heal the symptoms of this plague. I’ve not touched the topic of politics with anyone.” Certainly, they’ve arrived drenched on his shores, but the conversations are brief regarding alliances because there are more pressing matters at hand than extending his influence.

    { and in my dreams i've kissed your lips a thousand times }

    With the countenance of any true angel, the once-Dale king accepts our arrival with an exclamation of welcome and a smile so warm I can practically feel its heat upon my skin. When I mention having known of him previously, Tiphon hurriedly agrees and mentions again the length of time it was ago. Twenty years now, I'd imagine; nevertheless, his response inspires no suspicion from me, though perhaps it ought to have, for his sake. What with all these diplomatic visits going on, I haven't had the time to meddle with the dreams, memories, and lives of others as I once did during my early years of ruling. That could be changed, however.

    Alas, Tiphon's thorough cover-up shall have to fall more to shambles before I recognize his need for my help.

    Despite a small crease marking the handsome stallion's porcelain forehead, his answer in regards to the Resort comes rather promptly and decidedly. Not that he makes himself out to be overly decisive in the ways of politics; this strikes me as strange, considering his previous post in the Dale; but I figure that everyone's personalities are in flux, and that right now, maybe he's enjoying a sort of retirement. Still as a figurehead, but not as key player; instead of being King, he is a Bishop, but yet not a Pawn.

    "Those are respectable endeavors, and certainly the shaken nature of Beqanna begrudges you not your need for time to focus inward instead of outward. Be that as it may, I am hoping that we might entertain the possibility of a peace treaty between our nations. I don't know whether you are functioning in tandem with the rest of the West, and if you are, then I suppose the final decision will come down to your leading Kingdom; but if that is not the case, then it would be a welcome idea to have you, the Island, as the East's friends."

    Pausing for his answer, I nod and then smile. "Thank you for your time, Tiphon; I believe we shall now be on our way. Peace be with you."

    @[Tiphon] I figured I would wrap this up on my end, if you want to post again then by all means, otherwise I'm fine if you just post a little ooc note to say whether he agrees to a treaty or declines <3
