    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The frigid temperatures of winter surrounding the mare did nothing to calm the fire blazing within her heart. A warrior's blood pumped through her veins, her electric blue eyes flashed with the fury of a storm. She was ready to fight once more, to prove her superiority as a warrior and that she would be fine to defend her kingdom.

She knew she had to be a bit careful. Engaging in a mock battle in her condition; there was a reason it was a mock battle though. The two horses would not be aiming to kill one another, just to test out their skills, evaluate what kind of warrior they've become. This would also be a test of her skills when it came to avoiding damage in battle. She had something to protect, which meant she had to keep her belly away from those flying hooves.

The mare stomped her front hooves a number of times as she faced the stallion across the field from her. He was a proud gray beast, his Arabian physique slightly offset by the Friesian head he boasted. Raxa's conformation exhibited the true traits of a Quarter Horse despite the number of paint markings she had. Her red brindled coat was thick, showing her winter fur had grown in, but it still remained sleek enough that the muscles underneath could be seen when they were flexed. Her long tail flicked back and forth, a clear sign of the agitation she was showing.

The mare's mane fell onto both sides of her neck, her silky forelock masking one of her eyes. Her ears were tilted back so they were almost against her head, and her nostrils flared with rage. She was ready to fight, and this stallion was her opponent. He better know how to fight or he'd be leaving this fight in a pretty sore condition.

The brindled mare charged at the stallion, baring her teeth. She immediately went after his neck with her teeth, her front hooves coming up so her knees would hit his chest at the same time.

The stallion stepped back, missing the hooves but still being bit by her teeth as she bites him, and wheels around towards the pregnant mare. He wonders briefly what she's doing out here but then silently praises her ambition - she wouldn't keep any skills if she didn't practice, even in her current state - before lunging his head towards her rump, teeth bared, as he aims to bite her. He would avoid the belly as best he could, for she carried a foal and he considered it murder to kill an unborn creation before it ever knew the world.

Heat bounced onto his dark coat relentlessly as a sheen of sweat started to spread across his smooth, muscled form as he watches her. His left ear stayed forward while his right went back, that way he'd hear her and he watched the red brindled quarter horse mare watch him. The fire inside her burned brightly in her eyes, and it slightly intimidated him. He hid it by evaluating the opponent in front of her, whom was also well muscled, especially for a pregnant mare.

OOC - tried it two ways in case it liked it with or without capitalization best.

Raxa felt her teeth break the stallion's skin; her attack, partially, had been a success. She was a bit frustrated that her knees hadn't hit their mark on the stallion's chest, meaning he didn't have any significant damage dealt. His fighting potential was still at its limit; this irritated Raxa. She berated herself for missing her main mark, but at least, hopefully, the pain from the bite mark on his neck would distract him a bit.

She can see the stallion is thinking about something for a moment, and she wants to use this to her advantage. However, he was faster, and once again, Raxa made a careless mistake. Her distracted sense allowed the stallion's teeth to break the skin on her rump, which caused the mare to let out a squeal of pain.

Now, it was the stallion's turn to realize his mistake. The fact that he'd aimed for her rump made him vulnerable to a strike by her back hooves. With the speed of a cobra, the mare kicked out, her hooves flashing dangerously as they sped toward the stallion's body.

OOC: The version where you capitalized the first letter of Raxa's name is the one that worked.

@[Raxa] Sorry about the huge gap in time - school picked up..

He grunts in pain at the kick to his belly, and whirls away to launch a kick back. He doesn't know whether he misses or not, but aims quickly and strikes towards her rump. He's in pain from the kick to his belly, and trots away as he shakes his head. He felt the sun's heat, it was midday, and sweat was on his neck, back, and legs - it dripped onto his belly, making him look like it rained on his back and it was dripping down. He ran towards her, and reached to bite her, facing her for a moment as he aims. He bites at her withers, avoiding her belly unless he has to. He runs afterwards, whirling back to face her after getting a length away.
