    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

nobody dies a virgin, life fucks us all

So, the lucky bastard had found himself a kingdom with some damn good water.

The red and white chestnut chuckles to himself as he weaves through evergreens and fallen logs. Much to his dismay, Icicle Isle is as far north as what others said. The trek had been long, and thankfully during the winter otherwise his summer coat couldn’t have acclimatized.

    Nonetheless, he is close.

The kingdoms had supposedly been in uproar, though Arquus is not a man of politics and hadn’t divulged in much. Curiosity though, it lingers. He wonders what King Leilan will do, if anything.

He half hopes Leilan has avoided the drama altogether, Arquus isn’t sure he is ready to follow his friend into battle.

Hell, he isn’t sure if he can live here.

The border comes quick, forcing Arquus to a halt. The wind is light, no snow falls, and the sky is a pastel blue. A perfectly brisk winter afternoon, perhaps the weather isn’t so bad.

It’s a right shithole, the Isle these days. It has been better by a little, with the winter snow covering the granite, burnt bushes, and ashes. Finally the air does no longer feel as dusty.

The downside of the thin layers of snow in the southern area, however, is the fact that the cracks are no longer visible. Where the dragon’s fire had heated the stone and been directly followed up with Leilan’s countering ice, the Isle had not taken well to the extreme temperature differences. Castile’s fire breathing as well, had caused pressurized steam vaults to appear (or perhaps just to be re-pressurized). Some of the new geysers laid the cracks bare again, but some remained hidden death-traps for those who had not familiarized themselves with them over the last summer.

It is with that disturbing thought that he partially shifts to regain his dragon wings, and steers himself towards the newcomer swiftly in hopes to catch him before he breaks a leg. As he comes closer, the dragon-stallion grins, landing a while away, letting the wings disappear again and calling over from there. ”Arquus! What’s brought you to the hellhole at the end of the world, hey?”

He knows the answer though, and does not wait for it before shoulder-bumping his friend. ”I’m sad to see you didn’t bring a herd of girls with you.” he says in a playful, mock-disappointed tone.
