“What do you fear, lady?' he asked. 'A cage,' she said.”; Ashara - Ygritte - 05-10-2016

DEVIL-MAY-CARE WITH A LUST FOR LIFE

The russet woman nurses the small pink and black spotted filly. Amber pools gaze lovingly but she finds herself lonely but not for any other reason than her own. She had chosen to go off to the thicket to be alone and birth the tony filly. Her view shifts to gaze over the land before a call is tossed to the wind for her friend, the platinum tasseled woman.

They needed to catch up, talk and relax and enjoy each other's company since it had been some time since they had. Lobes flick as the little girl stumbles about, nosing blades of grass and getting herself tangled in her own legs. Ygritte shakes her head slightly as she laughs at the child. On the occasion she nudges the youth to encourage her exploration of her new home.

ASHARA
If you're ever gonna find a silver lining
It's gotta be a cloudy day

Time seemed to move quickly now, a day was hardly long enough to spend time with the quickly growing colt. Within a couple hours the child was born, standing and eating. It only took a few more hours before he was awkwardly moving about and trying to play. Months later the spindly gold sapling was feeling fairly confident on 4 pillars, galloping about and kicking up his heals. Exuding innocence and happiness, sheer joy to be alive, it was a beautiful thing to witness. The saviour to it’s mother, giving her life and meaning to the darkness.

The palomino mare was grazing in the shade of a large evergreen when the call reached her thick ears. Baby Cicero stopped in his tracks facing the direction of the sound and squealed back in response. A weak, high pitched noise. His mother smiled, gave him a little nudge and eagerly but slowly made her way towards her old friend, the colt glued to her shoulder.

It had been too long, although perfectly understandable given the circumstances. After the attack, Ashara had hidden within the safety of the kingdom, alone except for Jedi, full of shame, worry and anger. The birth had changed her around, the love for her miniature version healed a lot of the emotional trauma. Although she would never be the same, or be as trusting, if it wasn’t for the wee one she’d be a lot worse. There was a permanent smile etched across her dark maw, adoration and pride in amber eyes. There was also fear and protectiveness too, keeping him close and safe the utmost priority.

When within touching distance, the golden vixen nickered to the salmon pointed friend, and reached out her nose to the others. “Ygritte, so nice to see you.” Her gaze soon shifted to the beautifully coloured filly. “Hello there.” Her voice warm towards the little one before turning her attention back to the bay mother. “She’s beautiful! And how have you been?”

The honey-hued boy was quite intrigued with the strangers, more so the pink and ebony spotted girl. He stared rudely from brown doe-eyes, his head held high. Purple streaked flaxen scruff of a tail swishing uselessly at airborne pests.

Having had her fill of wildflower inspections, Raene has begun to chase a swallowtail butterfly across the meadow. Squaeling delightedly, the spotted filly bounds through the tall grass with youthful agility. Only whe the butterfly spirals upward and disappears does she look back to her mother, who is calling for her.

No, not calling for her, Raene realizes as a palomino mare approaches, calling for someone else.

Curious but not yet fearless, Raene presses herself to her dam’s side, peering curiously at the stranger. When Ashara addresses her, Raene perks up, stepping away from Ygritte’s side and looking up at the older female with a charming smile.

“Hi!” she replies. From her new position she can see the palomino colt at the side of the mare. Raene returns his open stare, and then takes a few steps forward to poke at his muzzle with her own before darting backwards with a giggle and hiding behind Ygritte’s salmon tail.

DEVIL-MAY-CARE WITH A LUST FOR LIFE

The spotted girl never ceases to spread a smile across the orange pink lips of her mother. The girl is a perfect embodiment of her mother and father and Ygritte already glowing with pride. A small laugh can not help to be contained after Raene daringly moves from her mother to inspect the pair of palominos before darting to peek through the long strands of her mother's tail.

"Ashara, my dear friend. I am so much more well now with this little one around." A smile spreads effortlessly over her lips as she bends to sneak a look at the spotted girl. "Oh my, your boy! Such a handsome cold, Ashara."  Amber eyes look over the honey coated child. He would grow to be a very handsome man one day. Ygritte is happy to see another child about though for now Raene would possibly have someone to play with since Josselyn was almost grown and the twins were rather occupied with one another. "How are you Ashara? It is great to see your face once again. How is our dear Jedi?" Though the boy was as solid gold as his mother Ygritte possibly wondered if he was a son of the painted male.

ASHARA
If you're ever gonna find a silver lining
It's gotta be a cloudy day

The pride glowing from the queen is something the golden femme can finally empathize with. The pain, fear, worries, fatigue, joy, pride and youthfulness that motherhood brings is only understood to those who have gone through it. Most of the time you feel clueless trying to figure out how to raise a child as best as you can and banding together with others who are going through the same struggles is comforting and strengthening. It’s not that the two mares didn’t have much in common before, after all they had the same loyalty for the kingdom and kind, compassionate souls; motherhood was just one more thing that could bring them closer.

“I can relate to that.” she says with a chuckle, glancing at her boy. The compliment is taken with delight as if she had some control over Cicero’s appearance.  “It is so nice to see you too. I am also better now.” Although the ghost of that fated day with the lavender pegasus still haunts her, the happiness outweighed the nightmare. Jedi had adopted the colt as his own and they made an odd family but it worked. Ashara is unsure if the other mare is aware of what happened, it seemed like the king and queen were exceptionally close lately, the spotted girl is proof of that, but perhaps the spotted stallion had spared his companionship the heartache of the truth. The memory of him seeing the palomino vixen crying, beat up and full of shame causes her a little embarrassment so she quickly shakes the thought. Regardless if Ygritte knows about the attack or not, there was no need to bring the conversation down, however she does anyway. “Jedi is well. I think he is grieving over the stillborn with Sorea, and her absence but this little one, Cicero, keeps him busy. And Kreios? Is she his?” Though pretty sure of the answer she asks anyway. Amber eyes search adoringly for the spotted girl. It is so nice to see the two foals interacting with someone their own age, one can only hope they will become friends too. “And what is your name little one?” She asks the filly, returning the girls greeting better late than never.

Cicero

Everyday is a new adventure

A strange feeling wells inside his belly as the cute girl draws closer, that moment seems to happen in slow motion, he is curious and excited, her scent growing stronger in his tiny delicate flared nostrils as the distance decreases. Her touch is soft and as she darts away he too explodes in a burst of energy, turning around in two hops and kicking his back legs up and out behind him, accidently letting out a loud fart before cantering a semi-circle so he can face the filly again. He is mostly expressionless, just curiously watching her. Her coat dark like night spotted with a vibrant pink colour, hiding in her mother’s salmon banner. He gets distracted by the talking and notices for the first time the flowers in the other mares’ mane and upon her crown and wonders what they taste like. The palomino boy feels the weight of his mothers’ attention and takes off again, cantering a wide circle around the gathering trying to reach out and bump the girl as he goes by which causes his stride to falter slightly from the unbalanced act.

BETTER BEWARE, I GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT
DEVIL-MAY-CARE WITH A LUST FOR LIFE

Ygritte is unaware of what had happened to her friend but she can sense a change ripple under the golden woman's features and concern touches Ygritte's own in response. The orange-pink muzzle extends towards the velvet of the woman's but as quickly as the darkened features present themselves that it seems they disband when Ashara looks to their children interacting. Ygritte looks on as she follows Ashara's gaze.

"Raene is certainly Kreios. Don't think I could deny if if I tried." She chuckles softly as lashes fall over her eyes. Her youngest and most daring so far, seemed to be as curious about the boy as he was of her. Such young innocence. It was absolutely heartwarming. "And you little one's name?" The purple in the child's mane reflected another source of genetics but Ygritte did not question this but instead focuses on the mare's earlier remark. "Better now? How so?" Once again the concern crosses her usually warm features.
