Go ahead, laugh; Any - Heda - 07-15-2022

Heda had resided in the meadow, unaware of what was to come. The sudden change in the atmosphere, followed by the heavy whistling of wind drew the golden woman's attention to the horizon, where a ravenous cyclone surged, devouring everything within its path. Her actions that followed may of been instinct propelled by the melodic tune of survival that thrummed within her soul.

Gusts of wind begin to lash at her body, as the tornado grew larger and more intense by the second as it neared. She knew she didn't have much time to spare, with determination fueled by her need to survive the buckskin damsel began to run towards the forest. Her navy legs thundering beneath her as she pushed against the wind, clasping her gold flecked wings against her sides for maximum efficiency in her escape. Her heart almost beating outside her chest as she nears the very edge of the forest, she couldn't help but pause allowing herself to glance back, the emotions of her past washing over her as she watches the meadow fade out of existence within the storm. With one last glance Heda steps forwards, across the threshold and into the hazy shelter of the forest.

Her mind swirling, as she treks deeper into the thicket of foliage. Her lobes swiveling behind her as the whistling of the wind ceases, it seems that the tornado's hunger for destruction has been quelled by the very deletion of the meadow. It was hard to imagine that it was gone, it almost felt like a joke.

It was funny really, just as she had begun to grow mildly familiar with these lands when the world itself was swept right from under her. As if this world was constantly mocking her. First Loess, now this? Really?

She grows frustrated as she wanders, this world was always trying to take a swing at her. Yet this wouldn't be it's final blow, she was far from finished with this world.

As her mind festers, she can't help but think if there were others displaced by cyclone. Accompanied by her own kind nature her lips part, "Anyone here?" Her hazel eyes peering through the trees.

Gale
started under neon lights, then it all got dark
i only know how to go too far

Though he had sentenced himself to a lifetime of solitude, Gale experienced less than a year of it on Islandres.

The storm had been intense and overwhelming, as riotously magical as physical, leaving the navy stallion unable to do anything but seek shelter. He’s still not entirely sure how he’d found his way to the Forest - had he swum or flown or simply appeared? - but as he opens his electric blue eyes and looks out at the springtime woods, he’s quite sure of where he is.

He’s not alone, either, for others have fled the destruction.

A voice disturbs his contemplation, and rather than face his own thoughts, the white-maned stallion turns toward the sound of it. The buckskin mare is not one that he’s seen with his own eyes, but there is nevertheless something familiar about her. Something that dances just at the edges of his sight: a memory of having seen this woman before in a Vision, perhaps? Not while he was Cursed, he knows that for certain, and so there is no extreme trepidation as he approaches her, no worry that she might be someone he had known while infested with that dark, sick, murderous thing.

Now he is only Gale, iridescent navy blue with feathered wings, empty of everything but the guilt.

“What happened?” He asks, even though he suspects from her wide eyes that she has no more of an idea that he does.

Heda had always found comfort surrounded by trees. It always brought her back to Taigan roots, something she had once buried so deep within her. Even now, with frustration and worry riddling her delicate features the woman can't help but gaze into the maze of trees. There large trunks creating intricate twists and turns as they fade into darkness within the depths of the forest. She almost gets lost in it, wide eyes staring deeply into the intoxicating shadows, giving her peace of mind for just a moment.

As a voice breaks through the silence, she returns to reality hazel eyes blinking alert to meet a face laced with familiarity. She doesn't know this stranger, how could she? She has no more ties to this earth, all her friends and family are no more at least that's what she assumed. Yet his iridescent blue toned coat says otherwise, she would know that signature color anywhere. Her son in law, Wolfbane had the very same hue adorning his body. She can't help but wonder, was this stranger one of her grandchildren? "It can't be." She breathes "Are you one of Lepis'?" she stops herself as the words spill out of her navy lips. She shouldn't have said anything this stranger barely knows her, let alone wants to reunite with an old estranged family member. But she said it, there was no going back now.

Heda stares at him intently waiting for an answer, with curiosity glinting in her eyes, she almost forgets that he asked a question. She doesn't truly know how to answer it at first, the sting of loss causes her brows to furrow in irritation, as she projects a thin layer of happiness upon herself just enough to mend the sting of her own emotions, leaving her emotionless and neutral.  "There was a storm. The meadow is gone, and I don't know much of anything else."

Heda is almost inclined to ask the same, but judging from his own question the women doubts he knows much more than she does. Instead she offers up her name, "I'm Heda by the way, and you are?"

Gale watches the wariness on the mare’s face blossom into surprise of a pleasant variety, confirming his suspicion of familiarity. She doesn’t know him, she reveals after expressing disbelief, but had known his mother.

The intense stare with which she fixes him is one that he recognizes, knowing it best from Lepis’ grey-blue eyes. Family then, but with the agelessness of immortality there is no telling how distantly the pair of them might be linked. “and Wolfbane,” he replies, his electric eyes curious, grasping on to this welcome distraction from his own thoughts.

Something about her shifts. He cannot tell what it is, only that it was entirely self-contained. Her expression goes from irritated frown to something far more bland. What she tells him is only what she already knows, but he is only half-paying attention, still distracted by the bit of trait-magic that she wielded.

Not until she says her name - Heda - does his attention return. He meets her gaze again, and now he wears the same expression she’d had upon recognizing his particular shade of iridescent blue. “I’m Gale,” he tells her with an amused smile, worry far from his mind, “your grandson.” Its unnecessary, perhaps, but he wants her to know that he knows as well.
