RE: I'm going to light it up - Mazikeen - 05-23-2021

Mazikeen
Yanhua’s response to her asking if things with his wife (wives) and daughter worked out feels vague, but she doesn’t press for more information. They stand quietly watching the glowing butterfly-creatures but Mazikeen isn’t really watching them. Or, at least, she’s not really thinking about them. Her mind is continuing to spiral in a dozen different directions. She’s daydreaming about a future she knows she won’t get to enjoy, wondering whether it’s better to keep Gale’s curse a secret from the rest of his family or if they should be warned, telling herself that she’ll be able to take care of it - one way or another - before it becomes an issue so there’s no need to tell any of them.

She’s grateful for his answer to her question, grateful to have something to focus on. Lunaflies sound like the perfect name for the creatures. And then she follows his lead as they move back the way they came, and she’s surprised to hear so much has changed about the animals here. “I wonder if anything’s changed in Hyaline. I haven’t really been paying attention.”

There’s been exactly one thing commanding her attention lately, and it had not been Hyaline’s biodiversity.

Mazikeen is glad to have an open invitation to explore and her orange eyes are bright again as she lets this current topic put her back at ease. “I’d definitely like to come back. See what type of shapes I can take to climb these trees. And we have a few hunters who may be interested in helping with the cull.” There’s something feline about her grin when she says this, her eyes dancing. Mazikeen loves the hunt, loves the thrill and the challenge associated with it, though she does not care much for the killing or eating that usually ends it. Definitely not the eating, at least.

And it is not just out of obligation that she extends her own invitation. “You’d be welcome to visit Hyaline anytime too, you know. If you’re ever curious about the mountains.”
