O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!{any} - Sarkis - 08-15-2015

AND THE MOME RATHS OUTGRABE

Though she loved the jungle, Sarkis sought to broaden her horizons so to speak.  To seek company other than the hardened warrior women of the Amazons, and the animals that inhabited it. They were good company in their own way, but she wanted to see what else there was to the world. What were the others like? What a Tundra, or a Desert? Would she like them? There had to be more to see and to do than what the tropics held for her.

The roan filly set off far before the sun had risen, the murky half-light of the impending dawn wasn’t too hard to navigate. Certain areas of the jungle, where the trees had grown close together, light could hardly filter through. What did manage to creep past the vines and boughs was tinted green, casting an undersea glare to the world. It was her world though and she loved it all the same, bright or green light, it made no difference.  The distance was vast between the place she called home, and the section of land for those who gathered to socialize. She hadn’t thought it would take this long to get here, to travel across the stretch of Beqanna, but it had. Her ebon mane stuck to her nape, her coat already slick with sweat from the trip.

Her eyes were bright when she entered the meadow, a smile tugged at the corners of her maw as she had a look around. It was already mid-afternoon, the sun high above them in the sky. Other horses stood in groups, sometimes only consisting of two horses, in others there were more.  To her the summer sun felt only warm against her back, now that she had time to slow down. A gentle, cooling breeze whistled in from West, blowing both the grass and her banner as it went. The sweat on her back had dried, making lacey patterns of white to mark their paths. She approached a random stranger, each was as good as any, might as well just go for it. ”Hi, I’m Sarkis. What’s your name?” Her voice full of cheer, because Sarkis simply did not know how to be anything other.

What Is An Ocean But A Multitude Of Drops
When the tiny bugger approaches her Astri has the initial instinct to clamp her teeth over that soft, little velveteen nose and hold it until the small thing suffocated. Foals weren’t her strong suit. Her mismatched eyes burrow into that happy miniature face and she snarls, head snaking low so she can confront the problem head-on. “Well well, what have we here?” she questions, sneering into the big, dumb eyes of the filly. “A parasite.” Her lips smack together in feigned boredom and she rolls her gaze back out into the expanse of the field. Not exactly ignoring the insect, but not exactly giving her the time of day either.

“Where’s your mother, hmm? I’m sure she must be missing her nosy little brat.” Her tail flicks across her green haunches and she lends the little girl an ear, hoping that someone else will come along to snatch the thing up.

AND THE MOME RATHS OUTGRABE

She knows she's made a poor decision, back-pedaling from the bug colored female. Storky limbs struggling to stay upright, but she manages not to fall or trip herself up. Her bay dial lifts, a snort exhaling through her nostrils, and her hazel eyes stare wide. This one was grouchy, much more than she had anticipated. Nothing like the Jungle green Lucetta, nothing. Sarkis tosses her head as she backs up, leaving a much more appropriate space between them.

"Okay, okay sorry." It took the better part of her concentration not to squeal. This one was likely related to the crocodiles back home, their harsh tones so similair. Their coarse disposition a reflection of the other, at least to the young Amazon's mind. Now a safe and much more polite distance, she watches carefully as the other female throws venom-filled words her way. More than anything she was confused, having to learn of the harsher side of life through trial and error. "My Mother's busy," she gives gently, her ears pulling forward. "Overseeing the Jungle takes a lot of her time." An attempt to convince them both that this was important, that it was normal for one's parents to be so absent. Long eyelashes flick, her hazel gaze taking in the form of the green. The look was curious, if not a bit envious.

"That's not a very good way to make friends you know." She knew that she herself, did not want to be alone the rest of her life.

What Is An Ocean But A Multitude Of Drops
Astri doesn’t know why but she loves the fact that she’s struck something akin to fear into the heart of this little imp. She’d only ever been able to achieve this with the gangly filly that stands before her, but she considers it a win in some sense anyways. A smirk rouses against her lips as she watches the young thing struggle to backpedal. The filly wasn’t as stupid as she seemed. She apologizes, in a manner only children can manage, but Astri doesn’t care for sentiment or kinship. The gesture only serves to irritate her.

As for her question about the mother, that too is answered by a rather verbose yet meaningful reply. So the tiny bay had some power to back her, hmm? Astri turns then to face her, looming down curiously on the prattling filly. Friends? She thinks that Astri has come here to make friends? How … adorable. The green mare grins then, ears falling back against her head as she lowers her face to the level of the girl’s. Her voice comes out as a harsh whisper, with the intention of wounding the pest.

“If I wanted to make friends with someone as dull as you I’d just as quickly go make friends with a rock, or a twig.” She hisses, raising her head and rolling her eyes to brush off the curious girl. She walks away then, tired of entertaining the air-headed. She had better things to do. “Let this be a lesson to you about strangers.” Astri calls out, taking her time to exit. “Not everyone is as nice as I am.”
