you're the beacon // any - wound - 12-21-2017
Wound finds Tephra’s starry nights to soothe her tremendously. Whenever she’s having a particularly rough day — whether it be about the deprecating self-image she might have or the sincere loss of her brothers’ companionships — she finds that if she waits until the sun sinks below the horizon her spirits will be lifted immediately. The stars remind her of many things including how small her problems are when she compares the minority of herself to the scheme of the universe, how her brothers are all sleeping in their crazy, slobbery bundle underneath the same stars, and how Warrick takes swift comfort in their distant glow as well.
She finds herself in the midst of the forest on one balmy night. Despite the thickness of the foliage, Wound finds a patch of empty space at which she can crane her neck up to view the constellations. They are spread in a wide, dazzling display above her crown and above the treetops. Their glow illuminates the soft planes of her face, reflecting the silver of her locks.
Despite the shadow of the forest, Wound feels peaceful. She is content — for once — with where she is in life. She is happy, nestled among the warmth of her island home and engaging in friendly duties as a diplomatic member of Tephra. A soft, delicate sigh slips past her lips as the silver bay lowers her neck to graze from the greenery underfoot.
