How close to my birthday do I have to be to use my birthday trait? Or at least, is it hardset? I'm thinking that I'd be interested in using it two months prior, if that was at all possible - IC it just makes a lot of sense for what I'm scheming

It should be used in the moth of your birthday. That said, you can always email an owner for approval if it's related to a plot.
