you'll bury me again, you'll say it's all pretend;

Once, she was a woman damned to eternity.
She had gone there under the guise of dying with Carnage. For she had still believed – still hoped - that he was capable of such a feat.
How long she had denied his godhood!
It had been a beach there, too, where it all happened. A different beach, sure, but the sound of the waves had been the same, the ocean’s endless chorus. They had spoken of the world’s end and there had been those awful things chewing at the edge of the horizon, the sense of a world collapsing on itself. She was next to him and she had been so goddamn sure that the world was ending, that he had finally chosen her. He had touched her and she had felt that same stupid draw, that indefinable thing that bound her to him, and the noise grew louder as she pressed her lips against his skin, so eager for the world to finally, truly go black.
She gasped in ecstasy, but the noise meant to be breathed against his neck, meant to usher her into nothingness with him, is spat out into empty air instead.
He was gone.
He was gone, and her world had shrunk to that awful beach, because she was frozen in his absence. Condemned to this small strip of hell, an endless loop on the world’s end, the acute agony of his exodus frozen in her chest.
(She was supposed to be immune to his magic, untouchable – she assumed that had changed. She had never thought that his magic might have had a limit, that he could escape, but he could not bring her, too. He could only save her by damning her to live this day repeated again and again and again unless madness would have not only been welcomed, but embraced)

All this to say – she does not frighten when this titan emerges, when it splits the sand with its power. Her dark ears flick as the terrible, keening creatures slither forth.
God, how she would have welcomed these things back at the end of the world!

She steps forward toward the onslaught. One lunges toward her, nipping at her heels like a wretched parody of a sheepdog – except this thing takes a chunk of flesh.
“No need,” she snaps, though truth be told, she doesn’t mind the pain – it is interesting, to feel it again after so long, “I’m going.”
And she is, she moves at a purposeful walk.
She is not quite sure whether it’s her own curiosity or her inclination for obedience that keeps her at this pace. Surely she should not be so eager to go toward such a thing? Surely she should fight?
The creatures do not reply, of course, nor heed – instead, another, larger creature lunges for her, and she skitters sideways as its claws rake her side. The warmth of blood on her sides is thrilling, and an odd smile cracks her face. She moves faster, runs like the prey they must want her to be.
She leaps into the open palm, lets the fingers close around her, and hopes – this damn girl can’t help but hope – that she might finally find some kind of darkness, after all.

RE: or i'll raise the tide so high, all of beqanna will die; round one - Kars - 10-03-2026

hello darkness my old friend

His newly formed flesh twitched erratically as he adjusted again to this body. It was oddly uncomfortable, to feel so foreign in a body he spent decades in. Loved in, hated in, fought in - murky and riddled with scars. Once he could have told you who provided him with each scar, but now he can’t recall any but one.

The voices answering the demon around him almost intrigued him enough to try and see who was near. Their answers to the demon mixed with the rushing and hissing of the water. He shuddered, the noises from the dead and undead sent a chill down his back. His ears worked to try and pick out any recognizable voices but it was impossible, and he did not turn his attention from the demon to scan his surroundings.

Kars narrowed his milky white eyes as the demon leaned in, and the sun burst from behind his massive form. The light was almost shocking to the tattered stallion and his neck bowed. He wanted to turn away from the searing whiteness, but his body would not allow him to. A sharp inhale stung all the way to his lungs when the water began to rush up and around them. His ears pinned against the wailing that came from beyond the water. Angry and mournful, Kars momentarily wondered if he could take their place.

He would go back without a second thought. He did not want to be amongst the living - or the dead. The dark abyss he was swallowed into all those years ago was his only home now.

With a sudden movement, Kars barely had time to acknowledge what had happened before the ground began to shudder and crack. The earth seemed to protest the action of the demon as it split and hissed around them. The red glow intrigued him. What would happen if he just…went to one?

He didn’t have much time to ponder the thought of returning himself to sender when a clawed hand shot from the world beneath them and grasped the broken ground. This time his body did move, a slight step back. Instincts took over his will to escape the battered body he had been placed back into. The creature rose in an uncomfortable combination of creatures and the smell of sulphur and death made Kars’s nostrils flare. Scents he knew so well.

Empty, milky eyes followed the creature, curious what could come of this. Then he noticed the others. The ground began to look like it was moving from all of the creatures crawling from it and gathering around their master. He stared in awe at the sight. He had seen a lot of things in his life, but this certainly had them all beat.

His mind begins to buzz and drift, mesmerized by the creatures writhing around them. Then a sudden noise snaps him back.
Fetch.

Kars shook his head as he came back to the present and realized that the objects being fetched included him. He fought against his instincts to run even as they ripped and shredded each other to ribbons and pieces. He could hear shrieks, wails, roars, all rippling around him but wasn’t able to tell if they were horse, undead, demons, or all in his imagination.

They neared so quickly and left a spray of gore behind them. Their gnashing teeth and hooked claws came for him, and like when he lost his life to gnashing teeth, he leaned into it. He welcomed the tattered feathers being ripped from deformed black wings and the sickening sound of his own flesh giving way to the frantic biting and shredding. He stared into the blackness as the glowing red came nearer with every howl and wail, and then, there was nothing.

RE: or i'll raise the tide so high, all of beqanna will die; round one - Rapture - 10-04-2026

She is lost in the agony of memory, too far gone to recognize the terror that stands before her. She does not react to the water that towers around them, blanketing them in a prison of sea and sand. The stench of sulfur fills her nostrils as the underworld breaks through, leaking despair alongside fire and brimstone.

Yet it cannot hope to compete with the despair buried so deeply in Rapture's heart. She's not sure anyone is more deserving of such a fate than herself.

So she does not protest when they come for, the bestial visages snarling in a macabre rictus of a smile as claws reach to tear flesh from bone. Despite the tears marking her cheeks, she can only smile in return as they drag her towards the ruptured earth, no resistance offered, no desire to fight her fate.

It's almost a relief, to know she will have what she has so long deserved. Perhaps, once all her sins have been carved from her soul, she would finally know the peace she had been craving her entire life.

RE: or i'll raise the tide so high, all of beqanna will die; round one - Oceanus - 10-05-2026

He had been deaths creature for too many years to fear it. There was a simplicity in nothingness, a calmness that was easy to settle into. He had lingered there, wherever there was. His life had been lived fully, though drenched in sin. There was no feeling of regret, nor fear to return to that sweet by and by.

Sunlight poured out of the sky behind the monsters crown, and he blinked his death-filled eyes against the onslaught. So profound was the sunshine that he barely noticed when the ocean began to churn and rise, the waves forming a cage around him and the others. He should have been afraid but fools rarely know fear, even when it was snapping its frothing jaws in their face. The old gray stallion barely felt a flicker of it when another creature appeared from the sand, and then another. It wasn't bravery; he had never been brave. Only foolish and in love. Love had been his ruination.

"Fetch." A simple word with a thousand meanings. And fetch the monsters did. They came like the ocean waves, spilling towards him on too many legs with their too many teeth gnashing at the salty air. They came with screams and growls, eyes burning with brimstone. He didn't run; why would he, when there was no where else to go? Instead, he offers them that strange smile and closed his eyes, content to return to that watery grave he had grown so comfortable in.
