Basilica was born in the year 209 and promptly traveled with her mother to Tephra to meet her grandmother, Sabbath. She and her mother stayed in Tephra awhile until her mother worked up the nerve to introduce Basilica to her father, Thorn. They traveled until they found him and he was not particularly happy to see them.

Shortly after, Prayer took Basilica to the Playground, where she made a new friend, Aureus. They traveled around the Playground for most of the day, chatting and comparing their magic until their parents came to pick them up.

Basilica spent the remainder of her childhood learning how to live on her own, which was difficult considering how close she was to her mother. Shortly before the Eclipse, she ran into Aureus in the Meadow. There was some radical shift in her friend and he insisted that she could not help him with whatever was troubling him and that they had never been friends. They parted ways and shortly afterward, Beqanna was doused in terrible darkness.

On her way to the River, Basilica encountered a Monster that attacked her and left her bleeding. It took her immortality and gave her stars. While she bled at the edge of the River, she met Orville.
