    Yanhua was a slender, delicate foal with glowing hair at birth. Early on into childhood he sprouted horns, and his hooves began to split down the middle. His tail refused to grow much, never extending past his stifle's. Passing the yearling stage, his horns set their shape and continued to lengthen each year until full maturity (around 5 or 6). At two, his hooves stopped splitting and turned cloven like a goat's. He even sprouted a chinful of a beard, which thickened and gave him a more distinguished air in adulthood.
