    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    remember you could weep fire
It was a particularly quiet evening in the rocky hillsides of Loess. Dark grey clouds had made their way up from the coastline, a steady drizzle watering the tenacious landscape. The only sun that shone upon the land today was that of Valera. She who was unique amongst her draconic kin, the one and only literal golden child. The gold sheep. Cool raindrops drip over the protective shield that was her white wings, drawn up over her back like that of a swan. Every once in a while she would give them a hardy shuffle, spraying droplets into the misty air.

Despite being quite dreary out, Valera felt particularly comforted and calm. The sound of the rain pattering the land around her, the hiss of the sea, it was serene. Maybe her feeling of calm had something to do with the fact that she was finally home with her family. She had been gone too long. Her nomadic life had her growing lonesome, homesick. She was so happy to finally come back, to run into her fathers warm, proud embrace. Just thinking about her well received homecoming, surrounded by her loved ones, it practically sets her heart aflame with love and joy.

Having only been in Loess a short while, she knew there were many faces she did not know, as well as family she had yet to meet. She only just got to meet her own two siblings, the gunmetal twins Cyprin and Bronsonn, just recently. She still has so many more family members that she longs to bond with. She admits, she does envy the bond between Castile and Isobell. If only she had stayed home to form that bond with Mist, rather than taking to the skies. But, at least she has her foalhood memories with her to cherish.

But she doesn't dwell on what she has missed, she smiles, her hooves now leading her to a rocky slope that dipped its way into the sea. She knew she has time to reestablish the bonds that have faded with her time away, as well as time to create new ones. Looking out to see, her gleaming clementine eyes spot a few brave gulls take to the windy skies, they hover in place. The salty breeze tosses  damp milky tendrils behind her like a wet sheet on a line. This is it, this is Home. And she could not wait to become a real part of it. Finally she can be one with her family, to bring her light to this land and all who dwell in it.
