    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

and the superstars sucked into the supermassive
The meeting with the Easterners had been cut short a little, due to their surprise about Icicle Isle not settling on a leader. Leilan could only internally sigh, then shrug about that fact - it’s not like every place would have settled so quickly and easily as the Silver Cove - if one of them had reacted more irritatedly than average, he might have asked them how much opposition they had found out there. Surely not three different sources?

Still, Nerine had the upper hand, he thought. Set had conveniently decided not to show his face recently, and so that problem had eventually sorted itself - in fact it had helped Phasus realize she would never get it on her own. Camomila had been busy with her own personal business, whatever that was, and so by default, in the end Leilan just figured that he might as well lead it unless anybody else stood up to defy him - but they’d better have an explanation.

Priorities first, though. The moment the roan had told them that Nerine would be the only land they needed to speak with, technically, because either this place would be a herd which would stay neutral, or a territory of Nerine, they’d lost interest. Or rather, most notably this male was, Litotes - instead asking to speak to Breckin. It was an interesting change in demeanour, while Kagerus had been enthusiastic throughout the whole meeting, and Velk rather neutral, though not unfriendly so. Leilan had never called himself a diplomat and wouldn’t dare to do so today, either, however. What would he know, anyway.

But that didn’t mean he couldn’t escort the cremello back to Nerine. While the other two made their leave, the scaled stallion waited for the other to say goodbye and join him for the trip. Leilan had figured they should walk north towards the place where the Nerinian kingdom was nearest to Icicle Isle, even though it was cold, at least it would be the shortest swim.

Not everybody had scales and a cold-related trait to protect them from these waters, after all.
