    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    good at goodbyes

Ischia. The small island off the coast of Beqanna would always hold a special place in Mosrael’s heart. Having been born and raised upon the tropical dot of land, she found it difficult to leave – but equally difficult to return. Having waded across the bridge that connected the mainland to the island, she stood on the outskirts of the tropical forest as her coat slowly dried. Her appearance had changed a bit since she’d last stood upon her homeland. Her new silver tail billowed in the soft breeze, her brother’s success proudly on display.

Despite having gotten third place, she did not revel in the lesson Nike had sought to teach. Fear was nothing to be proud of and the longer she contemplated upon her ultimate fear the more it angered her. Deep down within her, she knew that her fear of death was only the biproduct of a greater fear. Having lived an average life, she wanted to pass into her next life with pride knowing that she’d made something of her life. As a four-year-old, she had yet to accomplish her life’s dream.

She’d returned more determined than ever. No matter what it took, she would be the first mare to join the brotherhood and she would stand proudly beside her father more deserving than any stallion there. First, she had to make her desire known to Brennen himself.

Although he’d always been supportive of his children’s ambitions, she wasn’t sure how he would feel about the admittance of hers. Unlike Belgaer’s desire to become a diplomat, she faced a lot more politics. There had never been a mare welcomed into the fold before, but she believed herself to be just as an impressive fighter than any man.

Exhaling, Mosrael shook her mane, freeing it from any lingering droplets of water. It still caught her by surprise to see the black of her mane now interwoven with strands of shocking silver. It hadn’t been a huge change and, yet, it had become difficult to recognize herself. There were other changes too, of course, changes that couldn’t be seen with the naked eye. Her new water immunity had been something she’d loved exploring and she couldn’t help but contemplate the many ways it could benefit her in battle. Of course, it still wasn’t as impressive as her father’s bone-bending, or Belgaer’s wing span. She was grateful, however. Having gone from nothing to something was exciting in and of itself.

One moment is all it takes to change the course of a life.  One moment.

Hesitantly he watched as Krone left with their children.  She wished to bring them to the playground to socialize and who was he to deny this of them.  They were children after all.  He brushed his lavender muzzle along their crests and bid them farewell.  He'd see them soon.  Little did he know that one of those moments was about to take place.

Having left Kylin on the beach, he returned to the very place they had stood.  Ears twisting and eyes scanning he finds she has disappeared.  A rattled snort expels from his nostrils as his head lowers to where her prints remained partly in the moldable sands.  Each lap of wave erased a little more of the trail and soon he finds they are gone as well.

With little more than a frustrated snort, he lifts his head again.  Silver-hazel eyes scan the beaches one last time.  Finding nothing in the dusk of the remaining daylight, he begins to turn inland.  That is until a glint of shimmer catches in his peripheral view.

Stopping in his tracks, his head turns towards the shiny form.  Eyes seeking it's source as his wings shuffle at his sides.  Him and his children are the only equines he knew of that carried abilities of silver.  His brow cocks in interest at this peculiar find.  A new face comes into view.  Streaks of silver flowing amongst the earthy browns.  Speckles of purple dotting her backside.  Each of the strangers steps brought them closer to him and just when they are in speaking distance he turns in her direction.  A sweet fragrance entangled with the sea breeze.

"Hello.  I don't believe we have met.  I'm Klaudius, champion of Ischia..." His lavender crown dips in greeting, "Who might you be?" It was his duty to ensure no one coming onto the island had ill intentions but his curiousity here was more personal...

She was stalling, that much she knew. Still she stood, blaming the dampness of her appaloosa hide from preventing her return to Brennen’s side. The weight of her desire pushed heavily upon her and she desperately wished to be freed from it, but that could only happen once she’d secured her place within her father’s Brotherhood. Exhaling, she watched two parrots as they chased each other just beyond the break in the trees. Their antics had always amused her, and a smile crept upon her face despite her stubborn exterior.

Since she was very young, her father had taught her many things. Overtime, her ability to protect herself against those wishing to cause harm had grown to surpass that of many of her siblings and half-siblings. It was something that she prided herself on – so it came as no surprise when the back of her neck tingled to alert her to the approach of another.

She saw him before he saw her. Walking upon the beach, he seemed distracted as he listlessly scanned the length of the beach. He appeared poised to turn when he froze, and his eyes fell upon her. She met his stare defiantly, her shoulders squared in anticipation.

She knew him, of course. It was hard to forget a creature as unique as him. Klaudius, she believed his name to be though she suspected he did not know hers. She was just another one of Brennen’s brats, she supposed. Lost in the sea of one million.

The stud wasted no time in approaching her, his stride almost defensive in a way. A tell that he truly did not recognize her. She smirked knowingly and, as he drew up beside her, listened with growing amusement as he introduced himself. His claim to fame as ‘the champion’ was just as entertaining as his ignorance of her. He could see it in his eyes, behind his façade of good intentions – there was something else there.

“My name is Mosrael,” she began by answering his question. “I’m one of Brennen’s daughters…as in, I live here.”

She wasn’t sure if her response would offer him any reassurance as to her ‘intentions’. Young and, probably, achingly forgettable is was hard to be offended by him.

“And you, Klaudius champion of Ischia, who are you?” her voice had a slight mocking edge to it as she returned his question for the sake of redundancy. Deep down, she believed that no one truly knew who they were apart from the person they presented to others. No matter where she went or what she would accomplish, she would always be Mosrael, daughter of Brennen.

The way the mare held herself was intruiging.  So bold and sure.  At least on the outside.  Usually he found the ones that kept this outward appearance were often the most conflicted on the inside.

He had stopped just within reach of the spotted mare with silver locks.  Finding her coloring just as mysterious as her personality thus far.  His introduction is smooth, effortless even.  The title he held always accompanied his name, so they knew who exactly they were dealing with.  Sure he was prideful of it, why wouldn't he be? Most found it to be arrogance.  If pride is construed to be arrogant than so be it.

Her words seem mockingly defensive.  Perhaps they were meant to be but he dismisses it with a chuckled scuff.  Turning his eyes from her and onto the isle.  "You wanna know who I am do you?  Well...daughter of Brennen, I'm not sure you could handle the true me," a sly grin parts his lips at his jiving comment.  His silver-hazel eyes returning to find hers as a fore limb reaches forward to draw him nearer to her.  Lavender lips linger very near her damp cheek.  Meeting her eye to eye as he searches the depths of her reflective pools.  "Who are you Mosrael?"  He could feel her own heated breath on his lavender hide as he paused for her response.  "I can tell you are much more than just one of Brennens' spawn," he whispered into her flesh.

The lavender stud made a study of her. The silver of his hazel eyes traced along the length of her as he moved himself nearer closer to her. She held her position and arched her neck slightly against his approach. He was too familiar and his words echoed in her ears like a threat, though she accepted them as a challenge.

Klaudius, proud and purple, did very little hide the curiosity of his manner. As he drew uncomfortably close, she resisted the urge to flinch away from him. Physical contact often left her insides a tangled mess, but his interest was different. He had all the right words to say and his manner was that of a well rehearsed routine. He wanted something from her, something more than idle chatter.

An uncharacteristic smile caught the edge of her lips, brightening her features instantaneously. He continued to inquire upon her identity and the reality of her lack of knowledge caught her off guard. She was just one of Brennen's spawn - a daughter lost in the sea of male counterparts. Replaceable.

    Who am I?

The question filled her with sudden heat. "I am a girl who loves her island, I'm a girl who loves the sea," she began, finding a truth to the words as they bubbled up from inside her. "I'm fairly uncomplicated, Klaudius Champion of Ischia."

Complexity, however, remained lost within the depths of her reality. As Brennen's ambition grew, her uncertainty rose to meet it. Who would she be when the dust settled and the island fell under new authority? The island had always been her home and Krone had always been her queen. There was a part of her, however small, that felt wrapped up in the truths she'd been raised under.

Although she'd seen five autumns, three as a grown mare, she'd never known the touch of a man - nor seen an affection held for her besides that of fatherly love. Whilst her siblings all took lovers for themselves, she'd devoted herself to the growth of other, equally important things - the furthering of her skills and abilities. She knew that she'd made her father proud and, up until recently, she'd been the youngest of his and Galilee's daughters. Even though Astarael had waltzed into their lives in the aftermath of a hurricane, she'd always known that Brennen held a greater affection for her.

She'd never wanted to disappoint him and had never sought out any affection other than his.

    Until now.

Klaudius' breath against her skin, rose goose flesh upon the back of her neck. It was exciting. The anticipation of his growing interest. Though she'd never considered herself to be particularly interesting, still he remained. His eyes boring into hers in search of the soul that lingered beyond her irises

Slightly, he can sense a reservation.  It is not enough to move her, but it lingers in the coil of her refined muscles.  So he lingers, unmoving once his hoof falls.

His inquiry has her mind reeling and soon she finds words, a girl who loves her island, a girl who loves the sea. He smiles at this admittance.  The stallions silver eyes finding truth within the depths of her eyes, that this is true.  "See... You are more than what you realize, Mosrael," his voice smooth and slightly satisfied.  But there is a thirst inside him.  A want. A need.

    Passion. Lust. Admiration.

It comes in many forms, this feeling that is burning his insides.  A feeling that for too long has gone unsated.  It wasn't the need to procreate that he wanted.  It was the need to feel loved by another.  One that was not bound to him by family ties.  Though he does not truly know if the one before him held the same genetics.  The purple specks scattered across her hide suggested the possibility, but he feels they are by chance alone.

Senses begin to find her allure unforgiving.  A sweet fragrance flooded his nasal cavities amidst the scent of the sea.  At that moment, she was one with her beloved ocean and his eyes close to relish in the moment.

He had lingered long enough, and upon opening his eyes once again, he finds hers searching his.  His name and title sat delicately on her tongue, tempting his next movement.  Lavender lips reach out slowly to brush along the arch of her neck.  Trailing down the strong muscle there lightly.  Ever aware of her body language in case he had overstepped some boundary.  He feels though, that uncertainty has faded from their existence here together.  Tucked away in a desolate section of the isle.  No one would find them here, together.

    good at goodbyes

Suddenly, the world grew hot as the lavender stallion drew closer to her. The tension between them continued to climb as his eyes searched the depths of hers. The answer she’d presented him was pleasing, she could see it in the glimmer of his eyes and she could hear it in the huskiness of voice. He claimed that there was more to than she’d originally thought, and her brow furrowed doubtfully. She was not bothered by the steadiness of her. There was a stubbornness behind her lack of personal growth. It was all she had besides her ability to out fight a good majority of her brothers. For a slight moment, she wondered how she might fare against Klaudius’ prowess.

Lightning shot through her at the thought of them tangled together in the burning sand.

Suddenly her body was on fire and blinked away the images that played within the forefront of her mind. It was difficult to understand what the stallion wanted from her as he pushed himself so close to her that, for a moment, it almost felt as if he was trying to melt into her. His intensity was intimidating and her mind reeled.

She’d never known true male attention before. As a very young filly, there had been a cruel colt that had once played with her affections. For weeks she’d followed him around in utter devotion, only to stand there dumbfounded when he proclaimed that she was ugly and that he could never love her. It was from that moment on that she’d resolved that sex was a mere truth of circumstance and that she would not succumb to it’s lies.

Now, wrapped in the warming breath of Klaudius, she wasn’t quite so certain.

Everything happened so quickly. One moment they had only just begun to form an understanding of the other and then, suddenly, he was reaching out to her. His lips brushed along the nape of her neck with surprising tenderness. She’d never known such feelings that slowly began winding their way along her body. Tendrils of pleasure coursed through her as heat spread from her cheeks to the places he gently touched. A nearly inaudible exhale of pleasure slips through the thin line of her lips as her body slowly relaxed, leaning into his caresses.

For a moment, she wonders what her father would say – if he would approve of her lapse in judgement. After all, she’d only just officially met the purple man. A very small part of her screamed that this wasn’t right, that it was all too quick and that she was in danger of losing herself.

But she didn’t care. Mosrael, the normally carefully presented mare that she’d become, was loosening her corset. She was becoming undone…

When she does not lean away from his touch, he finds himself retracing his lips back up her neck then face.  Gentle kisses placed along the length of her cheek.  He wanted her to feel cherished like the precious gem she was.  His smooth voice confirms this, "You are a beautiful women, Mosrael." His silver eyes meet hers with sincerity before he moves down her side.

Lavender feathers brush lightly against her sides as he explores her.  Noting the strong way she had carried herself fading with each caress.  Giving in was much more pleasing than giving up.  He found the willingness of another much more satisfying.  Dragging his muzzle softly down the dip of her spine, he feels her quiver underneath him.  Exciting him to the point of arousal.  His wings ruffle at his sides in anticipation.

His gaze falls upon her face as he swings his hindquarters away from her.  Placing himself in the same direction of which she faced.  His lips place more kisses down the curve of her rump and down the length of her thighs.  Her silver tresses flick gently at his touch.  Still his eyes remain on her, gauging her reaction.

Finding no hostility towards his advances, his muzzle brushes down the outside length of her left rear limb, then back up the inside.  His teasing her, was merely a part of his infatuation with pleasing her.  Waiting for her to give into him fully...

With a slight shift in her body, he finds her ready and wanting him as much as he wants her.  The island grows silent around them as they lose themselves in each other.  His embrace on her sides is gentle as he pulls her into him.  Each motion is fluent and purposeful.  Lavender wings unfurl slightly to shield them from prying eyes.

The moment of ecstasy comes with one final thrust.  A light moan rattles from his nares at the same moment.  Lavender lips find a gentle caress to the base of her withers.  Finding and claiming her as his was the easy part.  Keeping her for his own would prove to be more challenging...

His lips do not stop in their exploration as his voice floods her senses with a thousand new sensations. She focused on each tender caress as they slowly make their way upon the warmth of her flushed cheek. Weakened knees begin to shake as the silver pits of his eyes once again find hers. Desperately she searches for some hint to the game she suspected him of playing. Instead, she was met with a frightening intensity that tied her insides into neat little knots. Why me, she found herself wondering. There were several more beautiful mares that resided upon the island, those gifted with talents of whit and charm. She’d hardly spoken a full sentence in his presence, and still his attention persisted.

Closer still, the feathers upon his wings tickled along her sides as he moves away once again, exploring every exposed inch of her. For a moment she wonders if he knows of her innocence and maybe that was why he had singled her out. Yes, she thought as she felt her insides giving in to the insistent urgency of his touch. He wanted her, she could see the arousal as it coursed through his body. Though she knew she could fight him off, she did not desire to do so. Instead, she leaned into him, nipping at him as he explored her rear end. As soft kisses trace the curve of her, her tail flicks slapping in across the jaw. She can feel his eyes upon her, waiting for the first sign of refusal. Instead, a naughty grin spreads across her face as she backs herself into his breast – daring him to do what he had set out to do.

That was all the encouragement he needed. His wings spread open, the width of them enough to keep them shielded from the world outside of their bubble. As he mounts her she readies herself to greet him, leaning into the force of his passion. Pleasure courses through her as his lust takes over his body. The initial pain of his entry causes her to bite her lip, but soon her hold loosens as she embraces the sensations that envelope her. The power behind every surge of motion sets her insides aflame and she pushes aside the realization that she hardly knows the man inside of her. It doesn’t matter, she tells herself. The touch of his lips at her neck is enough to pull her out of the clutches of reality. Within his embrace it was easy to forget her identity – easy to commit herself to the lavender stallion who’d looked upon her with desire.

“Klaudius…” she breaths as her eyes close.

With one final thrust, the wave of his climax washes over him as a soft moan spills from his lips. All too soon it is over and he is beside her once more. Tentative eyes search him, unsure of what to say or do next. Just as her mouth opens to speak, a familiar voice drifts across the sand of the beach. Her gaze shifts towards the sound, her body instantly on alert. The deep call of her father was easy to recognize, but the urgency of his summons confused her. Her eyes snap back towards her lavender lover.

“My father…” she states the obvious and, suddenly, reality is upon her once more. “I’m sorry, I – I have to go.”

The passion of their shared moment was lost as reality greets her like a cold-shouldered rival.

@[Klaudius] I thought it would make more sense if we had this happen right before Brennen's take over...

A moment of passion and pure bliss is swept from them in one foul swoop.  Threatening words float upon a harshening wind and clouds begin to roll above them.  Consuming the dimming azure sky.  He snorts in irritation as he finds the voice all to familiar but it is her words next that shock him evermore... Father...

She is swift to retreat from his side and he finds himself following.  His presence requested along with the rest.  When they gather and the purple spotted mare slinks in with the rift raft that has washed upon their shores, he is taken aback.  He had misjudged her true loyalties and cannot help but feel betrayed...
