    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Somethings never change (Nyphetimine)
    #1

It has been a long while since the chestnut fea has been anywhere near this place, though it has changed so much. The feel of magic in the air is gone. The world she knew so long ago is gone and fresh faces and new lands take its place. What had happened here? The slender fea made her way through the forest her mind doing what it has done best wander. But her mind kept going back to the same thing. A particular blood bay stallion. Nymphetemine oh how she longed to find him, They didn't spend much time together but her feelings for him never dulled. She wondered where he was and how he was doing. Hopefully he wasn't so consumed with the power of the late Chambers that he changed too much. Maybe she would catch him here of all places. Right now she needed him. Things have not been any better. After she wandered out of Beqanna she got into some trouble and was enslaved by a cruel awful brute who starved her and raped her. She has scars up and down her legs, her rump and her chest. All she wanted was the comfort of the stallion she needed most.

The fea sighed softly and stopped under a large oak tree and lowered her pretty head and snipped off the tops of the green grass at her feet. She was hungry she was starved up until she escaped so she was rather malnourished and unhealthy looking. She hated seeing herself like this but like everyone has said around her. Everything happens for a reason. She picked up her head and assessed everything with her wide lilac eyes seeing no one familiar but no one here was who she wanted. She hoped he didn't find another mare to make his heart race, that would kill the poor fea. Night after night she screamed his name in her sleep and while she was awake just to see if he could hear her and save her.

    Keeva-
My heart only runs for you

It had been an eventful month for Beqanna’s token blood bay stallion. The month had become a bit of a turning point for the stallion at least in the part of his life after the Reckoning. Never had he imagined that Chamber would have been such a pivotal part of his life. Not in the “power hungry” sense of his short sighted youth once believed the kingdom to be, but a genuine loyalty and patriotism for the kingdom, its ruler, and the residents. He had toiled to build the vision of Killdare, and protect it, but Beqanna took it all away. Maybe that was best, but it had sent the necromancer in the the shadows, he hadn’t cared, and often spent months without emerging into the world.  What had he to emerge for his kingdom was gone, Tephra never really felt like home with strangers ruling with no sense of the land’s history and purpose, and those he cared for most had not been around or found since the reckoning. Now, that was different, Offspring had asked him to step up, to lead Tephra into a brighter future, much like Killdare had after the war. Nymphetamine was thrilled to had a job again, one that he felt he could actually make a difference in. It was new, and there was much work to be done, work that would start shortly, once Offspring finished organizing his plans and needs.

Then there was Kimber, the blue mare had been a huge part of his life ever since just before the war. They met randomly while the bay was spying on Chamber and then later they, well…. came together after Keeva disappeared….and since then they had shared a connection, but their relationship was “love/hate” at best. Kimber led the army of Chamber and he the diplomats. She was the fiery action to his peacekeeper calm, but they both had the sarcasm to hold up against drastic differences. Though she often got the most furry from his tongue, she still held his heart...even if she refused to recognize it. She was stubborn, she was passionate, and she had always refused to admit her feelings. So they never really started anything other than drama. Nymphetamine had tried to forget the blue mare, for someone more… simple, open, but had not been able to, try as he might. Then the reckoning happened and Kimber vanished.

It was enough to make him never want to care again, while he had just started to know Keeva, their connection had been effortless… she disappeared. Then Kimber, who he tried so hard to not care for, she also disappeared. He was obviously not meant to have someone the way Kildare had Malis or the way Offspring has Isle. But this month was a turning point, not only did Offspring offer Nymphetamine to lead within Tephra, just before the meeting, Kimber showed up.  Out of the blue, like she had been there all along. It was enough to make the bay’s head spin. The two still had much to figure out and discuss but she was back and staying in Tephra, working with the army. It was like old times, more or less.

So summer brought a lot of change, which is why the russet stallion moved quietly through the thick flora of the forest. Even though he was happy for all the event of the past month, it didn’t mean he didn’t need to reflect on it all and get away from the sulfuric lands of Tephra now and then. The forest was good for more than secrets and trouble, it was usually a great place to get some privacy, some peace, and quiet. The bay’s muscles rippled as they flexed and stretched with each step. There was no urgency to his motion, just calm confidence. Externally he looked to be about 7, though he was actually about 16, he had been granted immortality some years ago, and there had been a few instances he was glad to have it. His coat had several scars, including a long scar down his shoulder from the raid that had ultimately caused the reckoning. His hooves snapped a twig occasionally, the sharp snap echoing off the trees around him. It was the only sound save the chirping birds or the whir of an insect flying by.

The diplomat had lost track of how long he had wandered around the forest, as well as the exact path his thoughts had taken.  He simply walked, aimlessly through the oaks, and sycamores that filled the space. That was until something made him stop, a scent. Familiar but unplaceable, as if from a dream or some past life. Nymph’s face contorted slightly from the effort of placing the smell. Just when no solid place came to mind he shrugged it off, and continued on his way, allowing his thoughts to once again wander around the ideas and event of the last few weeks. However a few minutes later, he saw a mare, she was thin, with scars across her body, her coat a chestnut base that faded into white around her barrel and hocks. She seemed familiar, and he was sure he knew her. He got closer, and a named popped into his mind, Keeva. He shook it off, there was no way it could have been her, he hadn’t seen her since he was 3, and this mare was much too skinny and battered to be Keeva. He got closer still, making sure to not startle her, he made no effort to walk quietly. He wasn’t walking directly at her but he closed the distance some more in her direction.  Keeva had been small, slender, with lavender eyes. Just then the mare turned her head and lowered it to graze, her lavender eyes catching what light there was in the forest. Nymphetamine let out an audible gasp as he realized it was her. ” Keeva?!?!”

His voice was full of disbelief, though he knew what his eyes saw. Even if in his memories the crisp details of her image had faded away in his memories, he knew her eyes, and he was sure that the small mare from his past stood before him once more.   He closed the distance between them but stopped when the severity of her scaring became clear, he was maybe 5 feet away, out of reach. Shock halted him, but hesitation kept him there. Hesitation due to uncertainty… and subconsciously the knowledge that his heart had belonged to Kimber for over 10 years. ”What happened to you Keeva…. Where have you been…. How… I… I never thought I’d see you again.”

His mouth turned down slightly, not that he wasn’t glad to see her, but he was riddled with more emotion that he would have thought upon seeing her again. He tried to shake the guilt that had taken residence in the pit of his stomach, but it was no use. It wasn’t his fault… she had left on her own accord… but it didn’t seem to matter. At the time he had felt it his duty to protect her and something happened to her. Somewhere in the mix of emotions were: relief- in finally knowing she was alive, worry- about her condition, excitement- at seeing her again, and a whole lot more guilt- because of Kimber.  He shook it all off though and looked over the scars that lined her sides, hips, and chest. There was obviously a story, and while Nymph wanted to throw a million questions at her, he knew, that he had to just let her talk. So he exhaled slowly, controlling his breath and forcing his mind and body to calm.  He looked at his once closest friend and could have been lover and waited for her to tell her tail. He could do that, but what he would do after, well he had no clue.
