    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She had left it on the Mountain - the dead thing that had poisoned her speckled body, the dead thing that had been the proof of her courtship with the nameless, hairless beast that she still knew naught about. Aditi had hoped for a small soldier, someone to gift to Rodrik and Pollock to prove her willingness to give to Pangea. Her body had betrayed her.

It had broken something in Aditi that she had been unaware even existed. She had felt the snap and the numbness that ensued as her emotions began to slowly ebb away. There had been no urgency to return to Pangea, to announce her failure and let it echo through the wasteland, but it is time, perhaps, for her year-long solitude to draw to an end.

The dusted terrain is cold and solid with frost, but it doesn't appear to have snowed yet this winter. The mare's hooves beat rhythmically, a dull thud thud as she trudges through the center of Pangea's desolate valley. Her dark tail flicks occasionally, more out of habit than anything else, but her ears are held at half-mast within a bed of tangled mane in hopes that it will deter anyone feeling particularly chatty.

There are a variety of new scents, with Rodrik's mingled here and there, but none of them intrigue her.

Adjusting her path so that she weaves with the dried, cracked riverbed, Aditi allows her amber eyes to rove the vaguely-familiar land that she had called home a year ago. The winter sun offers no heat as it settles on her malnourished frame, but the cold goes unnoticed by our speckled Aditi.

She simply walks, uninterested and dull.
