    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She doesn’t play by their rules, or exist as they exist. The chill of winter does not still her heart, it doesn’t freeze her core and if it did, she doesnt seem to notice- she is always still and cold. He had made her that way, taken her from as a young, gentle girl and made her into something else. He was always remaking things and with time she found she needed that, he was consistency in her otherwise bleak world. She cared about so very little now and yet she did not dismiss him as she did most every other thing. The dark God had done a number on her and he had done it well, centuries of perfecting his skill had made it so.

What she feels now is not the bite of the freezing air, it is weight. Her middle is so very heavy, a terrible strain on her tender frame, she is much too little to carry so much. Yet somehow she did, all winter long she carried them, her barrel slowly expanding day after day- too quickly, much too quickly. In her mind she thought twins, two small things would soon leave her and then she would double her loss. She never managed to keep up with them for long, they wandered off or she did and she wasn’t too concerned on tracking them down.

Today she trembles, her body aches, sides splitting along the length of her body and she knows that soon they will come. After so many times of doing this you would think it would be easy but it never was, no two times were alike and perhaps she was alone in that curse. She practically crawls to a thicket, hiding away within its leafy walls, panting with each wobbling step. It is hours before they come, most of the day passes as she yells in her thorny palace, straining to be rid of their pain. When they come she is spent, eyes bleary with blurred vision as she counts them. One, two, three. That explains it and she curses them, glaring at the little blobs of mess before licking them clean. She could do that much before she would need to rest.
a colorless existence, never tasting life's delirium

note: since she is having triplets i figured they wouldn't carry to term- so they are a bit early

From the moment her little body hit the damp cool ground she was finitely aware that sh was no longer in control. She had spent the last weeks making the decisions, she was ready, she was cramped and she wanted out so be decided to make that happen. She didn't really care if her brothers were on the same page or not-- she was ready and they would have to follow her lead. At first, her mother ignored her urging, but eventually even she had no choice as she and her brothers were raring to get out. But once out the black little newborn was just that a little thing. Small and meek. unable to make anyone do anything she didn't like it she didn't like it one bit. She decided then and there she was over it already, she would be a force to be reckoned with, and those that defied her would surely learn the consequences. She didn't know anything about how the world worked, but to her, it didn't matter, the world would learn to work the way she wanted... it was only logical.
    ----
He was only a moment behind her, as he always seemed to follow her lead. She kicked, he kicked, she wanted out, he did too. The silver black newborn joined his sister in the world and immediately looked at her for what to do... he couldn't tell what she had in store for them but her ideas had got them out of that dark cramped place so surely she would be a good one to follow. But before he could do anything else his stomach growled. and panic struck him as he had no clue what that was. he flailed and his stick-like legs and was sprawled flat out on the ground and when it rumbled again he was on his feet....before he fell back over on to the ground. The noise stopped for a moment, so he didn't move, but he was more than aware. This world was weird and loud, how was his sister just chilling there?
    -----
Always last in the know, the silver grullo appaloosa boy came last, by the time he arrive his mother was tired and he felt sorry that, as he came aware of his new surroundings his siblings were on the ground in little lumps, and his mother was cleaning his sister, he watched really just trying to take everything in. As time passed his mother finally reached him, and after he was cleaned she was sure to pass out but he wanted to know his name. "mother... what's my name?" His eyes looked at her happily, and he realized his siblings looked at her with questions in their eyes too.
    --
They had heard their mother mutter a curse on them for making her strain fro so long, but she did her job of cleaning them, and when the spotted boy spoke her her she just have taken some pitty or felt some need to appease his little questioning eyes, for she went dow the row and told them their names. And what names they were, The girl she named Callbear, the silver dusted boy Vengeling, and the one so innocent to the world Sidlet. She snorted then and laid her head down. She didn't bat an eye at them after--- she was done.

The three were ready to stand and all three were a wobbling gangly mess, Vengeling got it together first, as he had had a fright at birth, Callbear and Sidlet were there shortly after. Callbear looked at her brothers and noticed they had blueish blazes down the middle of their faces, she reached out and the were cold. She smirked at this and looked around. before looking at her brothers "Brothers, I do not want to be small... we must do something about this." Sidlet just laughed assuming it was a joke, but Vengeling was thoughtful, "How will we get big, sister?" Sidlet looked between them "What's wrong with being small? Callbear kept herself as upright as possible as she glared at her youngest brother, as he wobbled and fell over. "Sidlet I feel you already know, now get up... we have to make a plan." She waited as sidlet stumbled and wobbled until he was standing upright once more, then she looked between them and said. "First we wait for tonight, and then we take over the world."

The forest is never quiet, not truly. There is always a wind blowing the leaves against their branches, they shudder and sway by its command. Birds sing songs, twiiter to the rise of the sun and sweetly call to one another throughout the afternoon. Footsteps, there are always footsteps because the common areas are not as deserted as they once were, many have taken refuge within their borders in lieu of joining a kingdom. Some days that is just fine, Potion hardly takes note of the strangers that might pass the small section she and Ecco have called home. Other days it is for lack of better word, annoying, she doesn’t like to be disturbed.

    This is such a day.

Someone’s been crying, screaming out into the silence of the wood for better part of the day. Normally Potion would have ignored the woman but she just continued to carry on, over and over again. It doesn’t take much to find her, the small dappled mare, she is making such a racket. Potion can now see what all the fuss is about because the woman is straining in such a familiar way but Potion makes no move to help her. It wasn’t her problem, not yet.

It’s only when she is finished that the real interest pulls at her, three tiny foals sprawled among the grass. There Dam has barely the energy to clean them but she does her best, and then she promptly names them at the request of the smallest one. Callbear, Vengeling and Sidlet. The names do not strike her as odd, she had heard much worse and some of them belonged to her own siblings. The first one seems feisty, barking at the others and it becomes apparent which one calls the shots. I want to be big, it demands and Potion could not have been in a better place, at a better time.

With the little appaloosa mare clean passed out she made her move, emerging from the cover of the thicket. “And big you shall be my little troublemakers,” she announced because something told her she would not regret giving them a little push in the age department. With little fanfare she began, an invisible mist seeping its way from her body to coil around the three foals. You can imagine the fairy godmother-esque magic that it may appear to be to such very small children. They would stretch, expand and grow before coming to rest at about 2 yrs old. Old enough to take care of themselves, she had an itch that their Mother would not be so helpful in the nurture department.

“There now, you are big, what do we say to that?”

    Callbear

    Vengeling

    Sidlet

To do list: 1. Wait for tonight.
    2. Try to take over the world.

The evening sky had overtaken the afternoon sun. The sweet chirps of birds had given way to the early crickets of the evening. The three foals stood huddled about heads together as hushed voices blurred together. The forest was their secret keeper, nothing would find them there. (At least,t o their newly formed understanding of the world which was loose and unfounded.) For if the forest kept their secrets, then what did the world outside of their little huddle matter. Their altered reality just made them different, and unique. That uniqueness is what would make people want to follow their lead. People liked unique, collected it on shelves, or displayed for everyone to see. It would be to their advantage. The three black(ish) foals with the gold accents and ice blazes surely they would be a force to be reckoned with.

The occasional voice drift from the group with clear distinction. Sidlet was most often the voice that came through in an exclamation of surprise or disagreement, You can't do that Callbear! Vengeling don't encourage her! Say something! Sometimes it was Callbear, Sidlet you bore me with your concern for others. Do something about that wouldn't you Vengey-dear? Seriously how hard can it be to get big? But mostly they all mushed together. Until they all hushed in a rush as something moved in the brush. (i'm so clever with my rhymes). Three little heads snapped towards the sound; three little ears peaked with interest; three little sets of nostrils flared as the adrenaline hit them. But none of them moved, Sidlet glanced at Bly but she didn't budge at the sound, Vengeling looked to Callbear but the slender frame of an appaloosa mare broke into their clearing before any could decide on an action.

They watched her in shocked silence, as she cooed to them about being big. (For all of their big talk and bold planning, they stood their rather dumbly and allowed this stranger to invoke her will on them.) The sensations began like a shot, as a tingling sensation began creeping all over their bodies. It was as if they were being enveloped in something, though they didn't see a thing. The tingling turned into varied levels of pain as their bones and muscles grew rapidly before the eyes of the slender mare. After what felt like forever to the young foals it stopped. Whatever had wrapped around them subsided and it was done. Vengeling looked around shocked by the sudden change in his vantage point. When you grow several feet in a matter of minutes you notice when your line of sight changed. Further more, he realized he had a feeling of stability with the legs that were beneath him. He looked to Callbear next, she was less lanky looking than before. She had become much more refined, her head curved and body slender, much like the unknown mare that stood before them. Sidlet looked gentle and kind, but still full of life like he had before. If Vengeling had to guess he would look rugged and manly...but one's self image is not always accurate.

Callbear took notice of the changes her brothers and herself had just gone through in rapid progression. It was surely a shock, but one she was glad to have had. She was super impressed, and immediately looked over to the mare who was so coy and confident. The black mare with gold mane and tale knew that She herself wanted to befriend her. ...What do you say to that? Call held her head high and walked forward, "I say being small is definitely for the birds....who do we have to thank for this?" She gestured on either side of her, a smirk planted firmly upon her lips. The newly aged filly wasn't aware of her ability to be sensual or womanly yet. She was though, and surely there would be consequences down the road. Vengeling looked back mischievously, the world would surely know them in due time. For now, the three stood almost as if awaiting orders. They needed no permission, but they would at least get the name of their provider...and maybe some direction for where to start.
