    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Not Prepared For This-{Sunfall, Raxa}
    #1

    The painted stallion was returning from a patrol with Sunfall, the mares sides were bulged and she was ready to give birth any day now. Her stomach was exceptionally large, it was possible she was holding twins, it would be rare but he couldn't believe how much her stomach has grown. Although he was so happy to be with Sunfall and share a foal with her, he hasn't told her about Raxa. In fact both of them don't know about each other.

    Jedi sure has gotten himself into a lot of trouble, he got two mares pregnant, but he promised himself to one of them, to Sunfall. He wanted to tell her, but he didn't want her to leave him, to leave with there foal. Any day now that was all he could muster up to say to her. They were almost back to the Falls now, and surely Sunfall would find some grass to graze on and rest, preparing for the birthing day.

    He gently swayed his tail, it was more of a nervous twitch than anything, surely Sunfall has noticed something has been wrong with him. Jedi tried his best to stay away from the Kingdom, Raxa and Sunfall didn't talk so they wouldn't know that Jedi fathered both there foals. If he wasn't in the Kingdom he couldn't run into an awkward conversation, he would tell Sunfall he just needed more time.

    He shook the thoughts from his head before looking back to Sunfall, hoping she didn't notice he got lost in his own thoughts.

    A groan escaped the brindled roan's lips. Is this what her dam had gone through when she'd been pregnant with Raxa? If it was, Raxa felt sorry for her dam; she hadn't expected pregnancy to be like this. Hell, she hadn't even expected to wind up pregnant, especially not by a friend. She'd seen Jedi as a comrade in arms and a worthy ally on the battlefield, but she hadn't really seen him as a stallion she'd view as something more. And that night...

    Shaking her head, Raxa cleared the thought from her mind. She had a border patrol to get to, even in her condition. The mare finished chewing the mouthful of grass she'd grabbed, flicking her tail to get rid of a couple of flies that had settled on her rump. Really, it was the beginning of spring and already those annoying creatures were on her?

    Whatever, they'd soon enough leave her alone. The brindled mare knew that Jedi and Sunfall, the gray mare, were due back from their patrol anytime now. Jedi had been her mentor, training her to be a warrior, something Raxa could find admiring. She'd always known she would be a warrior, but for others, it took time. They were raised in a sheltered, good life here, rather than what Raxa had grown up to know.

    The fact that Sunfall knew she still wanted to be a warrior was admirable.

    As Raxa made her way to the edge of the territory to begin her patrol, she spotted the familiar forms of the paint stallion and the gray mare. Her sides were incredibly swollen, something Raxa could relate to. Still, the gray mare looked bigger; was it possible she was carrying more than one foal?

    Raxa didn't know if she could handle the stress of that matter. Raising one foal would be tough enough, especially since the mare really hadn't known a dam's love for most of her life.

    The mare smiled at the two warriors as she approached them, "Border patrol went well I take it?"
