People come and go, younger horses take the place of the former generation, unless - unless the older generation has a few tricks up their sleeve.
Not that he prides himself in that - but he hasn’t changed in a long while, and feels like he’s falling behind. More little dragons - dragon mimickers - crowd the Beqannan island each birthing season, and where once he was unique, he feels like one of many mimickers. Perhaps it’s something Castile said. About shifters. But it got him thinking.
Thinking that he didn’t always want to be a dragon - his scaly and toothy appearance wasn't always appreciated, in fact, he scared off Wila at the time, just by looking the part. Even if he only wanted to help her.
Others, too. Mostly young children, but more frequently he couldn’t laugh for it looked maniacal, as if he was just toying with his food.
Then on the other side, he didn’t really, actually, want to be a regular normal horse either. He’d always strived to not be boring. Even if perhaps he had become just that.
So he thinks he needs a change. The ability to change.
When he reaches the top of the Mountain (gosh, flying would be easier), he offers his thoughts to the fairies. ”Hello there. I figured I’d ask you… for an upgrade of sorts. I would like to have a choice in my life - to be either a horse or a dragon. You see, I’m stuck in between, have been for a long while. I’d like the option to choose how to present myself.” A heartbeat or two, contemplating. ”I’d also rather not be one of many.” he admits. So, if he could indeed dragon-shift like he hopes, he’d rather still be spitting ice than fire. I’d like to quest for frost dragon shifting! Dragon mimicry upgrade to dragon shifting, and that mutated with dragonice to a frosty version (so he’d be exchanging both traits for one 4-space).
Use of dragon mimicry (the teeth and scales are sort of, physical attributes so we mostly find his vision actively doing things - or him trying not to show his teeth all the time because he knows he’s scary looking for kids?)
