Tephra Landscape and Weather- Updated - Kromium - 09-10-2018

I wanna try something new and possibly fun.  I notice a lot of people have their own idea of landscape of weather of the different lands(sometimes I am way off lol), so I thought maybe it would be fun to have a thread with some weather updates and scenery ideas.  Feel free to use the ideas as inspiration or completely ignore them Smile

Weather:

Season: Spring
Average temperature: 82F
Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal on the islands of Tephra.  The new sprouts of grass are emerging from the bedrock, as are the wild fawna birthing their young.  Birds of all hues make their homes in the humid jungles of the island.  Chattering happily as mated pairs scrounge for pests to feed their partners and chicks.  Quite often one may find an equines back provides a tasty meal.  Small mammals are scampering about in search of tasty morsels, and wild deer can be spotted along the brushline most evenings.  Speckled fawns accompany their mothers and are often bounding about in games of chase.  Young foals begin to arrive as well!  Bringing the next generation of Tephras family.  They will have time to grow before the stormy season hits in late summer, early fall.

Season: Summer
Average temperature: 90F
The heat of seemingly endless days causes most to seek shelter under the shade of a towering palm tree.  Colorful flora is scattered about the landscape, refreshed by the consistent rainfall.  During the night time hours, a shower of rain is common, bringing slight relief to the kingdoms inhabitants.  Come morning, a thick haze fills the lands as water begins to evaporate off of the heating lava rock.  With summer comes the occasional tropical storm.  As fall begins to descend upon the lands, turbulent waves reach higher heights as winds whip up across the seas.

Season: Fall
Average temperature: 80F
Storms begin to brew across most of the open waters.  Only few make landfall and threaten to consume the volcanic islands.  High winds cause waves to crash along the coast and trees to topple inland.  The sea grass is becoming less plentiful and the old growth isn't as sweet as fresh spring shoots.  Skies darken a ghostly grey, nearly matching the thick smog that chokes those not accustomed to the atmosphere here.  Flying is inadvisable do to low visibility and harsh winds.  The lava flows seem to increase in severity and if one is not careful, they can find themselves trapped by the molten rock.

Season: Winter
Average temperature: 78F
As the winter rages across the mainland of Beqanna, it finds its grasp less firm here.  Where most lands consider winter the harshest of seasons, Tephrans find it the most peaceful.  The storms have weakened and the volcano is seemingly hibernating.  There is enough food to last them through the few months until Spring will arrive and bring them a new generation.
