The summer sun blazed above them when they arrived at the challenge grounds. This was supposed to be a friendly match, just for practice.  At the behest of their ruler, they had come, and Kwartz was under no delusions. This was a test of strength and skill and worthiness. A test the pastel colt intended to pass with flying colors. He reassessed his companion with a frank eye, examining their similar physiques while noting his superior height. He did not know if their was anything outside the apparent which he needed to be wary of. Probably. It was best to be prepared for any and all surprises.

Taller than the yearling at his side, Kwartz arched his neck as he moved into position facing the younger boy.  He felt strong, virile and ready to conquer the world. Really, he could be invincible. Baring his teeth in a taunting grin he hollered across the space between them in a somewhat mocking tone: "Ready for this, squirt?"

Not waiting for an answer, the leggy colt barreled headlong towards the bay and green. His head wove back and forth hypnotically to help judge the distance better, to pinpoint his opponents location. It was a long perfected compensation for the dead eye he'd been born with.

As he neared, his head dropped. He aimed to Drax' left side, snapping his right wing half open at the last moment in an attempt to drive the hard ulna into the yearling's throat or chest. His actions continued as fluidly as he could make them. Snaking his head around, he opened his mouth, seeking to draw blood with a vicious bite at Drax' top line. Gods willing, he'd pinch a spinal nerve. But if nothing else, he'd be happy just to cause a bit of pain. Two more steps forward and he swung his hips hard towards the bay's shoulder in an attempt to unbalance him.

Cutting a wide arc away from his compatriot, Kwartz swept away, hoping he'd caused enough ruckus in his initial assault to swing fortune in his favor.
