She was pleased to see he was beginning to fill out, not quite so thin and starving anymore. His silver and soft-gray coat shined with young vigor, and his eyes -though often dark and uncertain- could also shine brightly. He had replaced Lauchlan in the most basic of ways. Instead of a large black nearby as she slept, now there was small and silver. Next to her night-blue, they became a starry sky, the orange of surreal galaxies in her hair, but he was the only star. He was her light. Ruan, don't go too far, she warned as they crossed the small river. His health was her responsibility, she must always keep an eye for danger. She could spend all day at his side, truly, and not be bothered the least bit, but perhaps it was not the same for him. Perhaps young boys needed their space. This was the only decent place to get him some nourishment, despite it technically being some other territory. The wasteland was dead and dry, and he needed better. He deserved better. He still wasn't to perfect health yet, and she was determined to right that as swiftly as possible. He needed to be ready. For whatever tragedies may lay before them. And so they were here; one side of the river Pangea, the other some sort of coastline. For a while, she just watched him. He was a handsome little thing; kind, curious. Would she ever see him again when this was all over with? Anger simmered beneath her cool surface, lighting her eyes that couldn't hide it. Stupid bastard Deimos. She was going to rip his claws from this boy if it was the last thing she did. Ruan did not deserve such troubles, he was just a boy. Her boy. Suddenly eager to move, she faced off with one of the trees at this little patch of green. In Tephra, she would spar daily, with anyone at all. Lauchlan, Magnus. Or she would run and run and run, dodging unseen projectiles, leaping imagined obstacles. Today, here, trees would have to do. Almost immediately her hooves clacked across the trunk of one, then another in the same movement. She weaved lightly, keeping her weight balanced, focusing on speed as she avoided counterattacks in her mind then dished out her own. She needed to stay fit and ready. She may be more of a babysitter right now, a truth that grated on her, but she knew she would be needed for more. He would need her. @[k i l t e r] RE: any - k i l t e r - 01-24-2017 Time had done wonders for Kilter - the frost bitten skin that marred his body had healed over, his strength had returned, his bony ribs had begun to recede back into his body. Even his demeanor had changed, ever so slightly. While still often serious and wary, there were moments of childish joy ; teasing Raeg’n with a pull of her mane, or taking delight in splashing her in the small resevoirs of water in Pangea. Raeg’n, ever his Angel, had saved Kilter from Death, tossing him into the night sky to glow like the young boy he should. Her voice rang out, melodic like a safe haven, and Kilter tossed his head behind him, catching the Angel’s eyes. “ I won’t, Angel!” He lept into the river, the current wavering him and his still-weak body slightly before finding footing on the rocks. It was so easy to be fearless in the face of his Angel - she was a lighthouse in the storm, and knew should he come to dash upon the rocks, that she would be there to save him. They had weathered the rest of winter out in the desolate Pangea, and Death had still not sought them - which, Kilter assumed, was for the better. Death had yet to decide what to do with the young telekinetic. Now, the Angel had decided that Kilter was strong enough for them to wander, to escape the vapid clutches of Pangea and what little it had to offer. Kilter trusted her, and so followed where she led - this time, to a grassy coastline that flourished with excitement and adventure. He nosed at the grass, peering at the new spring buds that were shooting up, inspecting the vast array of insects and creatures that flounced through the land. He was always careful to look back up for his Angel. This time, his search for her led to a peel of laughter from his mouth. There she was, at arms with a tree. He laughed, watching her rake out at its bark, but reveling in her strength and might. She had always (save for her encounter with Deimos) - been withdrawn, serious, and rarely had to move to protect him. Here, though, she fought with a fearlessness and concentration. And so he watched carefully, before approaching her and calling out. “Will you teach me that one day?” RE: any - Celeana - 01-24-2017 Celeana Where the Wild Things Are I really wanted to get something up for you guys... so yeah.. It might be really jumbled or confusing.. RE: any - Raeg'n - 01-25-2017 -Raeg'n- She glanced to him every now and then as he splashed and played in the water. The sense of freedom and security that smoothed his young face was relieving, comforting. Maybe she wasn't doing too terrible at keeping him company -and safe. She felt his eyes on her, heard his sweet laughter, but didn't react to it save for the thrum of pleasure in her heart as she kept her pace. "Will you teach me that one day?" Yes, she said instantly without pausing her flow of movement. Because she had already decided he would need to learn some defense, if she were ever to fall and not get back up -a grave possibility. He was growing, thickening up. He could begin soon, perhaps. But she wouldn't pressure him, she still hoped to nurture his childhood, what was left of it. Her boy deserved fun and joy, not hard drills and Death hanging over him. Then again boys liked to fight, and she would not deny missing a sparring partner. To grow in sync with another, naturally coordinate your moves together without thinking; it was gratifying. Electric. Powerful. She landed more sharp hits, spun low in a dodge. Her eye caught movement in the greenery around them and in the same fluid move she ended protectively before Ruan with an instant fire igniting in her gold eyes, her stance ready. A sheen of sweat darkened her coat, but she breathed easily as though she hadn't been just running her paces. "Hello there, and welcome to Nerine. How can I help you two?" She logged the name to memory as she studied the creature who's gaze slid behind her to something in the brush. Raeg'n kept an ear on Ruan's movements, always in tune to where he was and what dangers lay around him. We don't need help, thank you, she said calmly, her tone bland but not rudely so. My boy needed food, refreshment. There is not much of that in Pangea. We don't intend trespass. She explained, leaving out that he'd also needed play and exercise, a change in scenery. She'd said her boy but she was still obviously too young to have her own children. Not her son, not her brother. Just simply her boy, her light, her star. She straightened carefully, cautious but relaxing the tension in the air in hopes to ease the situation. Her blue figure shifted to reveal her stunning, silver boy behind her, reaching to touch her nose to him without taking her eyes from the stranger. |
