    Kensley is, and has always been, inherently kind. In his youth, he harbored a depthless well of warmth. He was quick to smile, armed always with words of comfort, desperate in his want to instill happiness in others. He was selfless and genuine and steadfast in his goodness.
    And now? There is still some goodness at the very center of him. He is still inherently kind-natured, unflappable in his patience and understanding. But things have changed in him. All of the warmth has been drained out of him, replaced instead with a great well of sadness. He is wayward now, uncertain about his place in the world. He is capable of great anger, though it is incredibly difficult to coax it out of him and is almost always born from indescribable pain.
    Kensley is kind and just but it is tainted now by his sadness, his pain, the way things have changed and cannot be unchanged.

    History

    • the favorite son of jarris and plumeria, kensley and his twin sister kennice were born probably in the meadow a thousand years ago

    • kind of just wandered around and did his thing for the most part, met some people and did some stuff in his youth that literally no one remembers

    • went to the chamber when he found out the cronus was teaching his sister like shit, accidentally fell in love with the queen, anaxarete while he was there

    • he and anaxarete had a daughter, lilian, and he raised her just wandering around beqanna

    • he had some other kids, too but none of the others were as important as lilian because he genuinely loved her mother even if he'd never have her

    • left beqanna when lilian was old enough to look after herself and just wandered around doing who knows what for like hundreds of years

    • went to visit his sister keiran in some strange land, was stalked by a tiger which then killed keiran

    • keiran was immortal, so when he kissed her head, he accidentally swallowed some of her blood and inherited her immortality

    • he was so filled with rage that he also spontaneously inherited shattering and he shattered the tiger that killed his sister

    • came back to beqanna in hopes of finding some comfort in coming home but nothing was the same and honestly it really just made things worse

    • met agetta in the meadow

    • met cyprin by the river

    • found his mother (who was somehow still alive?) and wept at her feet

    • FOUND ANAXARETE IN THE FOREST OH SHIT

    • he answered rhy's call to everyone who had loved and lost, stepped through the rift between life and the afterlife (died, basically) and went in search of keiran who forgave him for not being able to save her and then pushed him out of the afterlife and back into the land of the living, accidentally helping let loose the dead in the process

    • but the damage was already done because he came back undead

    • agetta convinced him to ask ana for help and she froze his heart to stop all that pain

    • shortly after, their children livinia and jamie were born

    • kensley lived awhile with a frozen heart for awhile until a chance encounter with a young filly, aela, in the meadow who accidentally used her healing to melt the ice in his heart

    • sometime later, he left pangea because he did not feel he was worthy of calling it home anymore and went back to living in the meadow as a nomad

    • anguished, he entered the alliance in hopes of winning magic so that he would not have to ask anaxarete for help again but he lost to gale fairly early on and eventually watched his son jamie go on to win on behalf of pangea instead

    • he traveled back to pangea as darkness descended over beqanna and had another daughter, helka, with anaxarete

    • at some point the monsters returned him to life and gave him fog manipulation then exchanged his shattering for telepathy

    • sometime later the eclipse broke and his fog took on a glow when the leftover light returned to beqanna latched itself onto her inhabitants

    • sometime after that his fog manipulation spontaneously morphed into equus auster and he developed weather manipulation (this was thanks to the bq anniversary trait giveaway)
