Covet was abandoned by his mother in the Adoption Den because he was a colt and she wanted a filly. She turned his eyes orange so she could find him later in life if need be. He spent a total of a year in the adoption den, and finally was adopted by Stairway to Heaven and taken to the Chamber. Since he spent an entire year without any interaction he had a profound stutter and preferred not to speak.
After his 3rd birthday Colt, the current king of the Chamber, approached him about taking over the Forbidden Dale. They plotted to kill the current king, Coca-Cola, and have Covet take over. The Dale then became a sort of sister-kingdom to the Chamber, during which they participated in a few wars between Good and Evil, with the Dale siding with Evil.
During his kingship Covet struggled with his stutter and also his history with his mother. Once he became king she reappeared, where he learned the history of his family. His mother was born a twin of a great Amazonian that had been denied the throne. Covet took this slight personally and began a vendetta against the Amazons. This deep hatred, added with his frustration with his stutter and a deep seated mental illness, a second personality emerged just under his cool surface. He referred to this as "The Demon", which often lead to rash decisions. One such decision was to declare war on the Amazons, an act that eventually lead to his downfall as king. He gave the throne to Ashley, his semi-heir, and retired.
His retirement was mostly brought on by Sage, the first and only love of Covet's life. She was a warrioress that he loved deeply. They had a foal together, Aranea, who went on to rule The Forsaken Valley. Sage became queen of the Dale alongside Angel's Despair, who hated Covet. Covet, meanwhile, became king of the Frozen Tundra. Angel's Despair made the fatal mistake of being near Aranea and Sage, sending Covet into a rage that started an attack. They were fighting, when Sage threw herself between them - an act that lead to her death.
The death of Sage was the final straw - Covet left his throne and disappeared into the obscurity of Beqanna for many, many years, only to emerge as Aranea ruled the Forsaken Valley. Here Covet met Librette, the then-general, and the closest thing to affection Covet felt since Sage's death. Covet will often leave and return to the Valley, making friends with Vampyric and other leaders along the way.
Much more time passes and Covet is a meadow lurker, endlessly wandering, no purpose or drive. He finds a necromancer who tells him he will one day die - but not soon. This upsets him, he is ready to die, but cannot. Finally, when Covet is about 117 years old, he returns to the Valley, where he now lives.
