- Born in Spain on a farm, Zosma grew up close to her mother and aunts. As a yearling, she and her pregnant mother were sold and shipped across the sea. After a raging storm, the ship capsized, killing most of the horses on board and forcing her and her mother to swim to the nearest land. They were rescued by a herd stallion who charmed Zosma's mother into believing they would be safe with him and his family. Months after her mother gave birth, however, Zosma watched as he killed her young sister for not being his own. He blamed it on a mountain lion and swore that he would do the same to her if she told anyone. After two years of living with his abuse and the secret she held, Zosma fled with some of the herdmares. She acted as the alpha and defended and formed romantic attachments to her band of misfits. One day, the stallion came back and threatened to her mother's life if she didn't relinquish the herd to him. Instead, she killed him and left the band to her mother's protection. She then found Beqanna and lived within the Gates before the Reckoning.
- After the Reckoning, she participated in the Demon's quest and became a demon herself.
