Assailant -- Year 226
"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Equus Mutatio A separate species that lacks the traditional equine form of a horse – when stripped of the ability to shift this animal would die, unlike other shifters that would revert to their physical equine bodies. This includes the ability to change one’s body shape, size, gender, color, and wings/horn appearance. Also includes the ability to change into any real animal, any extinct animal, and any mythical creature, as well as change portions of their body into those animals. They're also capable of changing partly or completely into inanimate objects.
Trait Negation Ability to cancel another's trait. Some versions can only cancel psionic type traits, some just physical, some both. Some work at a distance, or only when the nihilist is touching the target.

Caw was never born.
Else was never aware of being pregnant; young and foolish, she'd wandered off on her own after a night spent with Tarnished in search of a girl she believed to be her sister. She was captured on The Beach by Stokely. Used and abused, she was left for dead by the spotted stallion when along came a seemingly kindly magician named Pazuzu. He restored her completely, even going so far as to remove the previous disfigurement from her face. When Else refused his gifts, he became angry and revealed his true nature. Else was mercilessly tortured and in the process, miscarried the child she wasn't even aware she was carrying. Caw, now nothing more than a little lost soul, spent what felt like centuries in The Pit with the children of other immortals; their parents had been promised eternal life and so in their stead, The Crows took their dead children and made them pay for their parents' sins.
Caw would have spent eternity shackled and at their mercy had it not been for Cordis. The magician came and liberated her and the others (though it is not known if The Crows recaptured the other children and reclaimed their former place). She was sent to the Meadow with the knowledge that she now owed Cordis a favor and spent the rest of her childhood training and wandering Beqanna, making few, if any acquaintances. When the time came, Cordis ordered her to take the life of Tarnished. Her father had been under the influence of Carnage for quite some time; though he had committed terrible acts in the past, the things he was promising the Dark God were surely horrifying and Caw was to put a stop to it before it ever began.
She later found her father torturing a mare in Forlorn Forest; unable to simply stand idly by and watch, she pleaded with him to stop and a small battle between the two of them ensued. He might have killed her if not for the fact that she ‘looked like her mother.’ After recognizing her, Tarnished seemed to accept what she had come to do and did not struggle when she tore his head from his body. Crooning soft apologies to it, she carried his head all the way back to Lady Cordis and as a reward was given the right to live her life as she saw fit. And she almost didn't get the chance.
Angered by the greed of its inhabitants, the fairies stripped Beqanna of its magic; Caw, no longer able to shift, was barely spared from death by the fairies granting her temporary immortality in exchange for the power she lost. She wandered Beqanna in the body of a two year old for years, hoping to one day recover her powers.
The day finally came, though the event swept across the land like a whisper and she would have never known her powers had returned to her if not for her body's sudden and sporadic shifting.
